"Well" by Rorie: When Words Fail, Love Remains


Have you ever tried to put the indescribable into words? That’s exactly what Rorie sets out to do in “Well,” one of the songs on her latest album "Hydraulics". Rorie shares that "Well" is a song "that I wrote shortly after reading a book that studied the Hebrew word "hesed" (the "inexpressible" lovingkindness, steadfast love or covenant faithfulness of God and also how humans should treat one another in light of God's love)."

Rorie - WellThe lyrics are a meditation on the endless love of Christ. The first verse raises an interesting question about time... "A well of living water that springs up to eternal life // The beginning and end, the middle of it all // Like an everlasting light." So how do you begin to measure a love that forgives, transforms, and lasts beyond time? The lyrics echo Ephesians 3:17-19, “how wide and long and high and deep," reaffirming that Christ’s love is indescribable.

Imagine what your response would be when you're standing before something so vast and so eternal. “One word can’t describe it all,” Rorie sings. But what we can do is accept it, lean into it, and let it change us, including the legacy we may leave behind. After all, isn’t that what "hesed" does? It not only changes us as individuals, it also changes generations.

May this song remind you that Christ is your constant and a sacred symphony in a chaotic world. Listen. Breathe. Let it open the door of your heart to a love that is indescribable.

"Sunlight (Storge)" by Chelsea Chaisson: Reminisce the Simpler Times

I was kind of curious what the word "Storge" means, so I had to look it up. According to Wikipedia, "Storge is a Greek word that refers to natural, familial affection or love, particularly the bond between parents and children, as well as among family members and close friends. It is characterized by familiarity, dependence, and loyalty, often rooted in kinship bonds and shared experiences." Sounds very familiar?
