"Eye On The Sparrow" by Robert Peterson and The Crusade: You Are Seen, You Are Loved

The key message in "Eye On The Sparrow", by Robert Peterson and The Crusade, is that God sees and loves you. He knows your pain, and your hope isn't fruitless. Robert was triggered to write this song by the 'desperate' people he saw in the inner city streets of Saint Paul, MN (USA) and along the banks of the Mississippi River near the Port of Saint Paul. Robert uses the word "desperate" for the people who appeared to be either homeless, lonely, lost, on some kind of drugs (acting very strangely), in poor health, and basically… desperate… possibly even contemplating suicide.

Robert Peterson and The Crusade - Eye On The SparrowThat is the setting for this song, with a side note that there are many shades of "desperate." There are so many people who are also desperate without others being aware. There are "undercover-desperates" around us, who are facing circumstances in their lives that might make them question their value. "Well, I've got my eye on you," the lyrics declare.

God sees us, not because we're perfect, and knows us! The One who holds the sparrows also holds your name. "Don't you know I died… for you?"

Robert shares, "Jesus has already made the ultimate sacrifice for us through His crucifixion. He has felt and knows all the pain and suffering we could ever know. He was resurrected to show He has conquered even death. If these desperate people can come to know our Lord and how He loves them, perhaps it will cause them to 'change their point of view"… and ultimately their circumstances here on earth for the better."

This isn't about pretending their/our pain doesn't exist. It's about refusing to let pain/desperation have the final word. The answer can't be found in our strength, but in His. We don't have to be fixed to be worthy. We need to be open. "Can't you feel the Love that's raining down?"

So, go ahead and listen, not just with your ears, but with your heart. May this song be the reminder that you are not forgotten. You are not alone. Your story isn't over. His hand is already extended to you, and He is waiting for you to accept Him and let Him accompany you. Step into His Light, one foot at a time.

'Lonely Dirt Road' by Dax: A Journey to Solitude and God

Dax's 'Lonely Dirt Road' is a conversation that Dax has with himself and God. Dax shares his journey of turning mental health walks into healing solitary drives. As you listen, you can almost feel the cruise, where it's just you, your thoughts, and God.  The chorus is so relatable: 'When I need space, that's where I go, a place to escape that nobody knows.' What do you do when life's pressures stack high? Do you also have a space where you can let go? That lonely dirt road that Dax sings about symbolizes solitude, but it is also an incredible opportunity for connecting with God.  Dax's honesty is raw and relatable. 'I didn't want my family to see me cry… dealing with the pressure of trying to provide.' There are times when we all put on a smile to hide how challenging situations may be. Like his father, Dax says that he finds peace on this lonely road, where challenges become opportunities to grow. This shows the core of our faith: that...
