"Count Me In" by Tyler Ratcliffe: What Does It Cost to Follow?

Tyler Philip Ratcliffe just released a powerful new single called "Count Me In." It's an honest, raw anthem about saying, "I'm all in for Jesus no matter what"—even if it costs comfort, reputation, or platform. This song didn't start as a planned song. Philip shares, "Back in May, I was spending time in the book of Acts. I had gotten to a point of complacency that felt wrong with my spirit, which is weird because I was writing more songs than ever in that moment, but I felt… like a fraud. I knew I wasn't facing persecution, I wasn't hiding my Bible for safety, and I felt the voice inside saying that how dare I expect to have a space in heaven next to those who faced lifelong persecution and struggle?"

Tyler Ratcliffe - Count Me InThe lyrics came after Ratcliffe started to look at his own spiritual complacency. Ratcliffe continues: "That night I got out a pen and paper and began to write my prayer. I didn't think about structure, rhyming or singability, I just wrote an authentic prayer that I sang over and over. A few months later I met a producer who wanted to tackle it and bring it to life. We were wrapping it up when our country experienced the bullet that started a fire, and I felt that this prayer came with Holy Spirit timing and my hope is that others feel the same way I felt when I wrote the song. A stirring in the soul driven by a desire to sacrifice for Jesus. To live with the fire that drove the miracles in the gospels. To live a sold out life for Christ that is bold and uncompromising."

Are you living a life that reflects the sacrifices of the faithful? This is the burning question at the core of the lyrics. Would you be counted among those "facing fire, met with swords" or those "risking lives for hidden bibles"?

The song encourages a radical commitment. We often want eternal gain instead of recognizing that truly following Christ may cost us everything. "If it costs my comfort, COUNT ME IN. If it costs my life, COUNT ME IN." May this song stir you and drive you to embrace the fire that leads to freedom and live a bold, uncompromising life for Christ.

As you listen, you can almost feel the cruise, where it's just you, your thoughts, and God.  The chorus is so relatable: 'When I need space, that's where I go, a place to escape that nobody knows.' What do you do when life's pressures stack high? Do you also have a space where you can let go? That lonely dirt road that Dax sings about symbolizes solitude, but it is also an incredible opportunity for connecting with God.  Dax's honesty is raw and relatable.
