"Poetry" by Ash Wiseman: You're Not an Accident, You're Art

Do you ever wonder if you’re truly known — or just tolerated?

A poet doesn’t rush. Every word gets weighed, every line gets shaped, every detail matters before the poem ever reaches the page. “Poetry” by Ash Wiseman is about you, as a poem that God took His time to write. Not a rough draft or created by accident. A “precious masterpiece, a labor of love, an intentional creation.”

ash wiseman - poetryAsh sings: “I am Your poetry, with detail You created me.” No searching required, or a requirement to first prove yourself. Just this: “I love you and You love me, and that’s all that I really ever need.” Read that again. That’s the whole message of this song summed up in one line.

Read how Ephesians 2:10 backs this up: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Workmanship. That’s not a vague compliment — it’s the same word that is used for a work of art. God didn’t mass-produce you. He crafted a unique version of you, with specific gifts, a specific calling, and a specific place in His story.

So what are you doing with that today? Stop auditioning for love that you already have. Stop measuring your worth against everyone else’s poem. You are unique! You were written with intention, and that means that your life has a purpose, whether you already feel it or not. Let that truth help you to get back up on your feet and going again the next time you fall — because falling doesn’t erase His poem. He picks you up. He dries your eyes. That’s not weakness; that’s design.

Listen to this song and let the song's message sink in. “It’s good, it’s good to know and be known.”

Background:

Just like a poet pours time, detail, and care into their poem, God poured time, detail, and care into us when He made us. We wrote ‘poetry’ talking about the sweetness of knowing God loves you and wants to know you. And isn’t that all we really need? We’re created and known by the Creator of the universe, and it is our delight to know Him and love Him back!

A poet pours time and care and dedication into their poem. This piece of artwork is their precious masterpiece, a labor of love, an intentional creation. One could say we are God’s poetry, created in loving detail; He’s writing the story of our lives and has created us with unique skills, attributes, and callings.

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬ ‭ESV‬‬
