Betty Lyles - Prayer Time (CCM)

Betty Lyles - Prayer Time
Betty Lyles has released a Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) track called Prayer Time.

Betty shares: "Prayer Time was written back in 2011 for my youth choir at Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas to sing at devotion for prayer. We needed a song that would be short and sweet for them to learn and prepare the congregation for prayer. The Lord placed it on my heart to write this song. We sang the song a few times during the year, but after that, we returned to our old repertoire of songs written by other composers. A few months ago I thought about Prayer Time and decided to go on Fiverr to hire a vocalist, rapper, synth bass, and lead guitarist to accompany me (I’m playing the keyboard) on the song. I was quite pleased with the outcome and decided to release the song, hoping it will inspire someone who’s feeling hopeless to go to God in prayer."

Lyrics:

[Chorus]
Prayer time, prayer time, prayer time
Prayer time, prayer time, it's prayer time
He will, he will answer
He will answer, it's prayer time

[Verse]
Hey! Yeah, ah, come on
In dark times we need a prayer, just wanna put my hands high and keep 'em there
No matter what you're going through, no need to fear
Just gotta keep faith, remember He is here
When the money's low, or when you're feeling lost
He died for you, He paid the ultimate cost (prayer time)
Things might seem tragic, but he can make it happen (yeah)
Bring you out of the storm for life everlasting
We're all looking for love and for purpose (prayer time)
And when I look at the world, my heart's hurting (oh-h-h)
'Cuz people suffering daily, can't handle (oh, it's prayer)
Trying to survive and just needed an answer
I pray for peace and I know it will get better
With help from the Messiah, the Alpha, Omega (better)
He gave me the good news, I just wanna share mine (he)
If you're looking for him, all you need is some prayer time (prayer time)
Oe, ah, o, ah

[Chorus]
Prayer time, prayer time, prayer time
Prayer time, prayer time, it's prayer time
He will, he will answer
He will answer, it's prayer time

Rhett Walker - Man on the Middle Cross (CCM)

Rhett Walker's CCM song, 'Man on the Middle Cross,' is a powerful reflection on the profound impact of God's grace and mercy. The song was inspired by a sermon by Alistair Begg, focusing on the two men crucified alongside Jesus, and the transformative power of Christ's sacrifice. The lyrics vividly describe the scene of three wooden crosses on a hill, with two sinners on either side of Jesus. The first verse expresses the realization that, at times, we all can relate to the sinners on the crosses—feeling guilty, regretful, and undeserving of God's love and forgiveness. The chorus beautifully captures the experience of both sinners, acknowledging that one has been on the left, filled with guilt and regret, while the other has been on the right, always seeking conflict and thinking forgiveness is beyond reach. The overwhelming theme throughout the song is the recognition of God's grace and mercy, which are not earned or deserved but freely given to all. The br...

'Lonely Dirt Road' by Dax: A Journey to Solitude and God

Dax's 'Lonely Dirt Road' is a conversation that Dax has with himself and God. Dax shares his journey of turning mental health walks into healing solitary drives. As you listen, you can almost feel the cruise, where it's just you, your thoughts, and God.  The chorus is so relatable: 'When I need space, that's where I go, a place to escape that nobody knows.' What do you do when life's pressures stack high? Do you also have a space where you can let go? That lonely dirt road that Dax sings about symbolizes solitude, but it is also an incredible opportunity for connecting with God.  Dax's honesty is raw and relatable. 'I didn't want my family to see me cry… dealing with the pressure of trying to provide.' There are times when we all put on a smile to hide how challenging situations may be. Like his father, Dax says that he finds peace on this lonely road, where challenges become opportunities to grow. This shows the core of our faith: that...

"Meet Me in the Valley" by Tasha Layton: God in the Low Places

We've all experienced times in our lives when everything feels impossible, and it feels like God is nowhere near. Tasha Layton sings about that very struggle in her song, "Meet Me in the Valley." Tasha calls out those painful moments and places them in the context of promises that you can read in Psalm 23. God promises that goodness and mercy will follow us, even through life's darkest seasons.  Tasha shared the main takeaway of this song on her Instagram account: "You are not forgotten. You are not alone. God meets you right where you are."   We often aren't able to recognize His grace until we're desperately needing it, and honestly, we often don't appreciate what we have (and what He has given us) until everything falls apart. But instead of dwelling in despair, Tasha reminds us to look upwards, and ask for His help: "In the middle of the war // Tell me that I'll make it // When I'm not sure // You'll be faithful." We...
