Our Policy Regarding AI Music Submissions
Now that Spotify and other DSP's are pushing AI music out of recommendations, we don't think it's fair to promote something likely to fail. As a result, we are blocking AI submissions going forward.
ChristianDance.eu is a platform that actually helps people promote their music. If algorithms mean that AI creators can't achieve that, we're wrong to offer a service that claims to provide it.
Background
AI music is without a doubt the most controversial topic in the music industry right now. Some feel it takes away creativity and authenticity from music, and with Christian music, one may rightly ask how AI can be "spirit-led." And on the flip side, some argue that AI is the future and breaks down barriers to entry. Put the two camps together, and there's a whole bunch of conflict.
Over the years, we've tried to avoid taking sides. Our efforts have been around disclosure, detection, respecting preferences, and focusing on the message and intent of the song.
This isn't a dig at people using AI. As mentioned, each side has their own valid arguments, and each believes strongly that they are right.
How this policy will work
The policy applies to all songs with "pure" and "hybrid/processed" AI. There isn't a path for requesting a workaround. Writing the lyrics or composition yourself won't make a track exempt from this policy.
Will this policy change?
Probably? Who knows. It's a rapidly evolving space, and we're trying to keep up with all of the developments.
