Go Deeper by Belinda Adu: The Prayer of a Thirsty Soul


Belinda Adu's song 'Go Deeper' is a prayer set to an upbeat melody. It's a plea for a deeper relationship with God, and asks the Holy Spirit to fill us and rekindle a fire within. As I listen, I am reminded of Psalm 42:1–2: '… My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?'

Lyrics that are so relevant when you're feeling spiritually exhausted and crave to feel God's refreshing touch in your life. 

The chorus emphasizes that God is all we need: 'You are enough // You are all that I need // All I want // Is for you to go deep // Start a fire from within.' What is the sense of resisting, when all we need to do is accept the invitation to let God lead and quench our spiritual thirst with His living water? Belinda's sincerity makes this song very relatable, leading you from hearing the lyrics to feeling it in your heart and dropping to your knees to make this your own prayer. 

It shouldn't come as a surprise that listening to 'Go Deeper' is a spiritual experience. Belinda's song leads the way to opening your heart to God so that He can refresh you with His Spirit no matter how thirsty you are.

"Heartbeat" by Laura Leighe - Dancing in Worship

Here's a song that's more or less been stuck in my head since I heard it. It's called 'Heartbeat' by Laura Leighe and is what Laura calls a "reggaeton-influenced Christian pop duet" that's all about surrendering to God's rhythm and dancing in worship, no matter what life throws your way.  The lyrics remind me of two scriptures: "Praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe."  - Psalm 150:4 (NIV) and "Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might."  - 2 Samuel 6:14 (NIV). Maybe I'm a bit prejudiced because the song reminds us of our own thoughts when we founded "Christian Dance" years ago and picked a name. Focusing on music that allows us to feel joy and causes us (our hearts) to dance for God, a pure form of worship that we know is pleasing to God. 'Whatever It Takes – Acoustic' by Stephen Stanley: Embracing Divine Grace Amid Trial

Stephen Stanley vividly portrays the profound journey of faith in his moving acoustic rendition of the song 'Whatever It Takes'.
