Little Girl Come Out' by Cindy Clark – Breaking Free from Darkness

"Little girl… come out," Cindy Clark softly calls out in this ballad, a ballad that started while folding laundry and praying for family and friends. Cindy shared, "As I was praying, I saw a picture unfolding in my mind of this little girl, all scraggly, bruised, bleeding, and hiding under a table in a dark corner, very afraid. As I saw this picture I began to hear a melody; its what we would sing as kids playing hide and seek "come out Come out wherever you are", I immediately began to sing what I was seeing, "Little girl what's your story why are you so blue?..."

Cindy Clark - Little Girl Come OutThe image of a fragile child trembling under a table, hiding in the shadow, reflects our inner struggles and our hope of redemption. The lyrics remind us that God isn't distant and longs to dance with us, if only we'll come out. There is nothing to be afraid of, "Little girl, no need to worry / He's not like all the other guys."

Fifteen years later, this song found a surprising continuation while Cindy was sitting on her porch, deciding which Psalms to include on her album. Cindy heard an unmistakable whisper, the Lord whispered to her heart that 'Little Girl' will be on this album and "there is more to write, go to your piano and dig out the song…."

Cindy began to sing out spontaneously as if the Father was singing through her, "Come out of the darkness // Come out of the shame // Come out from hiding // Call upon his name"

With the lyrics in place, the next part of the production came in view… Cindy shares: "I felt almost immediately that each verse needed to be sung by different women, and I knew I would end the song with what I had just written. It was a no-brainer that my beautiful friend who sings on all of my tracks and is amazing, Lisa, would sing the first verse. My son had just started dating this girl Willow and I had such a strong feeling that she was to sing the second verse. I had never heard her sing alone before, but knew that it had to be her. It was about 7 months later that she became my daughter in law to be, how super special to me to have my daughter in law sing the second verse and second chorus."

Together, they are calling each of us to come out of our hiding. No matter how deep our scars may be, we may claim our rightful place at His banquet. "Little girl (boy), come out… He'll be with you for all time, so come out."

Rhett Walker - Man on the Middle Cross (CCM)

Rhett Walker's CCM song, 'Man on the Middle Cross,' is a powerful reflection on the profound impact of God's grace and mercy. The song was inspired by a sermon by Alistair Begg, focusing on the two men crucified alongside Jesus, and the transformative power of Christ's sacrifice. The lyrics vividly describe the scene of three wooden crosses on a hill, with two sinners on either side of Jesus. The first verse expresses the realization that, at times, we all can relate to the sinners on the crosses—feeling guilty, regretful, and undeserving of God's love and forgiveness. The chorus beautifully captures the experience of both sinners, acknowledging that one has been on the left, filled with guilt and regret, while the other has been on the right, always seeking conflict and thinking forgiveness is beyond reach. The overwhelming theme throughout the song is the recognition of God's grace and mercy, which are not earned or deserved but freely given to all. The br...
