"Sunlight (Storge)" by Chelsea Chaisson: Reminisce the Simpler Times


(by Jasper Tan) Feel good, light-hearted, easy listening track. That's how I find Chelsea Chaisson's new single called "Sunlight (Storge)." I was kind of curious what the word "Storge" means, so I had to look it up. According to Wikipedia, "Storge is a Greek word that refers to natural, familial affection or love, particularly the bond between parents and children, as well as among family members and close friends. It is characterized by familiarity, dependence, and loyalty, often rooted in kinship bonds and shared experiences." Sounds very familiar? Of course, it should be, because as per the description, it actually describes what Christian love is. Or should I say how God loves us as His children? Chelsea was inspired to write this song by reminiscing about her childhood, marked by simpler times spent with her cousins and their grandma. 

Chelsea Chaisson - Sunlight (Storge)Countless times, we always heard the saying that we all should have faith like a child. The reason for that is that children are usually characterized by their worry-free and care-free outlook towards the world they live in. This is the secondary message that the song wants to share.

Chelsea's childhood is also marked by memories of the carefree times spent with her family. And I could perfectly understand why the song was composed as easy to the ears because it evokes that feeling of nostalgia with its acoustic sound. It allows us to do some time traveling to the old times when we were young and carefree. Contrasting that to the world that we navigate now as adults, with all the worries that come with it. This song is a nice reminder that while we were young once, we can always replicate that moment at least with our Faith in God. That we can always cast our worries and burden upon him and just live life without the cares and worries because God is here to carry us.

"Heaven On Earth" by Eauclaire: Finding Sacred Wonder in the Everyday

Have you ever struggled to see God's presence in your daily life? After a few chaotic days, it is easy to lose sight of the sacred. "Heaven On Earth" by Eauclaire is all about discovering the sacred in the everyday.
