"Strong Foundation" by David Samuel: How This Track Will Strengthen Your Faith

"Strong Foundation" by David Samuel (aka In Him) is a track that is inspired by Luke 6:46–49, and turns one of Jesus' lessons about life's foundations into a beautiful CEDM track. The song follows the story of two brothers in Jericho - one brother carefully plans and builds his home on solid rock, while the other brother rushes off to build his house without much thought. The contrast between the two brothers also mirrors the differences in the way that we respond/deal with life's challenges. Are we holding on to something unshakable, or are we settling for shortcuts?

In Him (David Samuel) - Strong FoundationThe lyrics beautifully capture the tension between these differences. Lines like "Step by step I find my way // Through trials that block each day," the daily struggle and the determination to trust God. The chorus, "Closer to You I long to stay… Your light whispers and calls me near," that intimate moment when we realize that His love dispels fear and draws us near. In the bridge we hear a declaration of resilience that our relationship with Jesus brings: "When the storms rage wild and high // You're my shelter, You're my guide."

Jesus wants to be your guide, to lead you, and to walk beside you. He is the solid ground that withstands any storm or turbulence that life brings. May this song encourage you to ground yourself in faith and build on His solid foundation. Go ahead and give this song a listen - you'll be glad you did.

'Lonely Dirt Road' by Dax: A Journey to Solitude and God

Dax's 'Lonely Dirt Road' is a conversation that Dax has with himself and God. Dax shares his journey of turning mental health walks into healing solitary drives. As you listen, you can almost feel the cruise, where it's just you, your thoughts, and God.  The chorus is so relatable: 'When I need space, that's where I go, a place to escape that nobody knows.' What do you do when life's pressures stack high? Do you also have a space where you can let go? That lonely dirt road that Dax sings about symbolizes solitude, but it is also an incredible opportunity for connecting with God.  Dax's honesty is raw and relatable. 'I didn't want my family to see me cry… dealing with the pressure of trying to provide.' There are times when we all put on a smile to hide how challenging situations may be. Like his father, Dax says that he finds peace on this lonely road, where challenges become opportunities to grow. This shows the core of our faith: that...

"Sunlight (Storge)" by Chelsea Chaisson: Reminisce the Simpler Times

(by Jasper Tan) Feel good, light-hearted, easy listening track. That's how I find Chelsea Chaisson's new single called "Sunlight (Storge)." I was kind of curious what the word "Storge" means, so I had to look it up. According to Wikipedia, "Storge is a Greek word that refers to natural, familial affection or love, particularly the bond between parents and children, as well as among family members and close friends. It is characterized by familiarity, dependence, and loyalty, often rooted in kinship bonds and shared experiences." Sounds very familiar? Of course, it should be, because as per the description, it actually describes what Christian love is. Or should I say how God loves us as His children? Chelsea was inspired to write this song by reminiscing about her childhood, marked by simpler times spent with her cousins and their grandma.  Countless times, we always heard the saying that we all should have faith like a child. The reason for that i...
