"The Finished Work" by Michelle K: Resting in the Power of the Cross

"The Finished Work" by Michelle K is what Michelle calls "a worshipful soaking song that leads the listener to find rest at Calvary, where God's glory is found, gazing upon the finished work of Christ and all that He has done."

Michelle K (Kahnt) - The Finished WorkAn important part of our faith is to remember Christ's completed sacrifice and everything that He's done for humanity, not because we deserve it, but through grace. Produced by Lachlan Holmes of Elevation Church Australia, this song beautifully describes the victory and peace that we all may find in Jesus' finished work.

The song is an invitation to dwell in His grace, "I'm resting in the finished work of the cross // Where Jesus died, He was crucified." It also reminds us that "It is finished." Jesus did His part, He prepared the way for us, freeing us from the accusation and sin's power, "The devil's got nothing on me // Cause Jesus is my victory."

The song is filled with praise: "Glorify Jesus for he triumphed over death // We have a new and living way." His sacrifice is enough, "Amazing grace is found in him." The song reminds me of the story found in Luke 7:36–50, where a Pharisee named Simon invites Jesus to his house. While Jesus is at the meal, a woman who is described as a sinner comes in, washes Jesus' feet with her tears, dries them with her hair, and anoints them with perfume. She praised Jesus and surrendered everything she had, and Jesus said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."

Today, we all may rest in the finished work of the cross. He takes away all our sin and tells us to go in peace. "Amazing grace is found in him, found in Jesus, In the finished work of the cross, the cross."

Skillet - Valley of Death (CCM)

Skillet has released a Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) track called Valley of Death. The global health crisis of the last two years has led to numerous questions regarding why bad things happen to good people. Skillet's John Cooper explains why he believes God allowed the pandemic to happen. Skillet has released their new album Dominion through Atlantic Records last Friday (Jan. 14). A discussion with 'Loudwire Nights' host Toni Gonzalez brought up the track "Valley of Death," which contains the lyrics: "Someone said this is all part of the plan / But I don't understand." Gonzalez then asked him why he thinks God would allow a pandemic. This is what Cooper said: "Well, the first answer is that we're not good people. We're all fallen and we are all in desperate need of salvation through Jesus. So, we're not actually good people, we all do bad stuff. We all cheat, we've all lied, we're all greedy and as much as the most lov...

"Sunlight (Storge)" by Chelsea Chaisson: Reminisce the Simpler Times

(by Jasper Tan) Feel good, light-hearted, easy listening track. That's how I find Chelsea Chaisson's new single called "Sunlight (Storge)." I was kind of curious what the word "Storge" means, so I had to look it up. According to Wikipedia, "Storge is a Greek word that refers to natural, familial affection or love, particularly the bond between parents and children, as well as among family members and close friends. It is characterized by familiarity, dependence, and loyalty, often rooted in kinship bonds and shared experiences." Sounds very familiar? Of course, it should be, because as per the description, it actually describes what Christian love is. Or should I say how God loves us as His children? Chelsea was inspired to write this song by reminiscing about her childhood, marked by simpler times spent with her cousins and their grandma.  Countless times, we always heard the saying that we all should have faith like a child. The reason for that i...

"In the Room" by Matt Maher feat. Chris Brown: A Heartfelt Desire for Divine Presence

Matt Maher's collaboration with Chris Brown, 'In the Room,' is a soul-stirring Christian song that encapsulates the profound longing to witness transformative moments in the presence of God. The lyrics express the desire to be present when God's power touches broken hearts, ignites faith, and brings healing. The song's verses convey a yearning for those irreplaceable instances when heaven and earth intersect, leading to changed hearts and restored lives. The chorus's declaration, ' I just wanna be in the room when You move,' beautifully encapsulates the eagerness to witness God's miraculous work up close. The bridge's vivid imagery of tearing off the roof and pushing through the crowd reflects the determination to encounter God, no matter the obstacles. The repetition of the bridge emphasizes the earnest plea to witness God's breakthroughs and freedom. 'In the Room' is an invitation to be part of moments that are greater than oneself...
