"Humble Heart" by Stephanie Staples: When Grace Meets Our Failures

“Humble Heart” by Stephanie Staples is a tender invitation to surrender and find renewal in Christ. The lyrics for the song are prayerfully inspired by Isaiah 66:2 and Psalm 51. The song takes us on a journey from brokenness to hope. Key in this journey is that we recognize our mistakes and embrace His grace, “Create in me a clean heart, O God.” God is able to change us in ways that we can’t do ourselves, but this journey starts with a vulnerable confession, “Father God, please forgive me for the wrong I have done.”

Stephanie Staples - Humble HeartStephanie doesn’t sugarcoat the fact that we aren’t perfect… as humans we mess up, not just once, but we do it over and over again. And that’s exactly where His grace enters. Stephanie emphasizes that God remains “kind, so patient, staying close when I’ve failed.” He is faithful despite all of our shortcomings!

The chorus echoes God’s words, spoken through the prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 66:2), “I’m longing for a humble heart, a contrite spirit.” Isaiah showed us that change begins by acknowledging our need for renewal instead of trying to rely on self-improvement.

Isaiah’s and David’s reminder can be heard in this song (Isaiah 66:2 & Psalm 51), a reminder that spiritual struggle is best paired with unwavering hope. “Make me new” isn’t a one-off request! It’s an ongoing conversation and process we have with the Father.

“Humble Heart” is a song that meets us in our brokenness and points us to God and the renewal that we can only find in and through Him. It gently encourages us to embark on our journey to renewal with humbleness. May this song help you to see your human weakness as a doorway to an inner peace with Him that will change your life forever.

Fighting With My Demons' by Joe Nester is a powerful Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) song that confronts a universal and challenging issue — the battle with inner demons. Nestled within the soothing melody and catchy rhythm are impactful lyrics conveying despair, struggle, and ultimate redemption. As the song begins, 'All my life, I’ve been battling with my demons,' listeners are instantly embraced with understanding, compassion, and know they are not alone in their struggles. The profound lyrics echo the pain of life's battles and the weariness they create, yet they’re also filled with hope. We are reminded that even while we are lost and conflicted, God's presence becomes our refuge. Today, in part 1, we focus on the foundation needed to build a larger audience/fanbase, where to focus, and your place in a bigger picture. Next week, in part 2, we will focus on your online hub, ways to attract more visitors to your online hub, and being more than a musician.   Why do some Christian artists have millions of monthly streams on the streaming platforms, while other great artists struggle to get more than a few thousand monthly streams? Many Christian Artists struggle to reach new listeners. Marketing music was never easy, but quite a few artists (and even agents/distributors) are not using all of the possibilities that are already available. What saddens me is that many Christian artists only scratch the surface of their music marketing possibilities. DIY-platforms, such...

Josephine Grace - Higher Than the Heavens (CCM)

Josephine Grace has released a Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) track called Higher Than the Heavens. Josephine shared her story behind this song:  Some songs come quickly, some come slowly. This one was definitely the latter! It was way back in 2011 when I made a home demo of the first version of this song - it was moodier with completely different chords, melody and lyrics - and then it sat on the shelf (or more literally, on an external hard drive full of archived files) until the back end of last year. I’ve done some studying online with Hillsong College this past year and a half and at some point I’d explored what being wholehearted towards God means. Bits of the old song (it was called ‘I Will’ at that point), written quite directly from Psalm 108, started coming back to me beginning with Psalm 108:1 (NIV) “My heart, O God, is steadfast”.  I followed the melody in my mind to the chorus based on Psalm 108:4 (NIV) “For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your fa...
