"beauty & love" by HOMECOMING: God's Inescapable Presence

(by Jasper Tan) Looking for a chill worship song to accompany you when you are in the mood to just chill and relax? Then "beauty & love" by Homecoming might just be the song for you. As shared by the group, "beauty & love is a psalm-like prayer rooted in Scripture and marked by honest, reverent worship. The song reflects on the nearness of God, declaring that He is closer than we often realize and present in every season through His Spirit. With imagery drawn from breath, mercy, and daily pursuit, it affirms a God whose love chases us through both joy and sorrow, meeting them at every step with grace." HOMECOMING delivers a testimony of God's ever always present presence if we learn to acknowledge it in our daily living.

HOMECOMING - beauty & loveHomecoming poses a question: "can we ever escape God's love for us?" More often than not, we tend to neglect his love because when times are good, we feel like we are on top of our own world, self-absorbed by our own abilities to get through life. But when we are dealt with a tough hand, we'd often easily lose hope and succumb to our weakness and self-doubt. But when in fact, in our triumphs and trials, whether which seasons we are in, God has always been a constant presence in our lives. He celebrates with us during our times of joy, and also commiserates with us during our times of sorrow. It's his love that blesses us with good tidings, and it is his love that lifts us up when we feel like losing hope.

Aptly titled "beauty and love", the song delivers the themes succinctly, and offers a promise that God will never forsake us. And the chill nature of the song offers an extra comfort as we try to soak in the words of the song, with perfectly timed musical dynamics that make this song stand out. Truly a soul-stirring modern CCM song that is worth listening to.

"Is Anybody There? (Psalm 27)" by Stephen M. Miller: Holding On to Grace at Heaven’s Door

Stephen M. Miller's "Is Anybody There? (Psalm 27)" comes in the quiet aftermath of the Christmas celebrations, when reflection can feel like isolation. Stephen's song isn't about polishing away his mistakes, nor does it encourage you to do so with your mistakes. Stephen shares his painful experience, "I never saw it coming Lord // It felt right but it was wrong // Family and friends have left me // But I still have you and a song."   Stephen owns the fallout of his actions, taking accountability without despair. "I said it and I did it, Lord // Broke more hearts than I'll ever know // I can't fix this, though I've tried // Don't be angry, and please don't go." His song is a prayer for God's presence and guidance. "Hear me when I call you, Lord // Don't turn your face away // Don't give up on me like others have // Come help me through this day." Stephen describes a fear that we too experience when we ...

His soulful rendition paints an animated narrative, celebrating life's delivery from the brink through divine intervention. Death, he boldly challenges, hasn't claimed its victory over his life because 'My savior's word is final / I am resurrected / Blood protected / I am a miracle child.' These words echo with the astounding reassurance of Christ's resurrection and our security in ...

"Beautiful Son" by John Perkins: The Gospel, Up Close and Personal

Jesus loved us before we deserved it. That’s the key message of “Beautiful Son” by John Perkins. Christ’s beauty rests in humility and love, not just physical brilliance. Taken from his four-song EP “Jesus I Do”, this song makes our celebration of Christ very personal. “Jesus, you love me in spite of myself // I give it all to you // I lay it in your hand.” This “Love”, despite what we do, changes everything. Have you ever felt that kind of love? The kind of love that meets you exactly where you are? But why, you may ask? Why can He love me while I feel weighed down by past mistakes? It’s because forgiveness became real on the cross. The stone rolled away, and death lost its sting. This doesn’t point to suffering, but to freedom. That freedom also means that our worth doesn’t depend on our performance. It depends on His finished work. His beauty isn’t just visual. His love changes water to wine, washes away sin, and His love still sets souls free today. His love changes everything, and...
