"Mid-Broken Sea" by Krystal Dawn Land: When Faith Meets the Impossible

What does it feel like to stand at the edge of one of life's stormy seas, wondering if God sees you there? The seed for "Mid-Broken Sea" by Krystal Dawn Land was planted one early morning in March of 2024, somewhere between a deep sleep and waking up, when Krystal saw the words, "Mid-Broken Sea" appearing one letter at a time across white paper in an old typewriter. As she saw this title, she saw a sketch of ocean waves on each side. This picture kept coming back to mind throughout the following year. As the lyrics and melody shaped, the story danced between Biblical accounts and current ongoings of those we pray will trust God's hand and allow Him to lead them through their Broken Sea.

Mid-Broken Sea - Krystal Dawn LandThe message of this song isn't one of abstract theology. It's a practical lifeline for anyone who is going through one of life's storms and it places God center stage: "I'm trying to show you my hand, to lead you to the Promise Land." Notice the invitation to partner with God: "Step out and walk with me, faith is all you need."

The song acknowledges our brokenness, names it fully. "In the middle of the broken sea" isn't a place of abandonment, but a place of encounter. A place where our deepest fears part like waves. It's a song that pulses with that hope, encouraging us to "Look beyond the waves, hear beyond the noise, seas become dry land when you follow my voice." That dry land is His triumph, because "I'll make a way when there's no way, trust me and obey… In the middle of the broken sea, I'm in the middle of the broken sea."

God shows up when waters run deepest. His hand is extended right now, in your storm. May this song remind you that you have the power to trust, obey, and step forward. Your sea has a middle - but so does your Savior.

Background:

One early morning in March of 2024, somewhere between a deep sleep and waking up, I saw the words, “Mid-Broken Sea” appearing one letter at a time across white paper in an old typewriter. As I saw this title, I saw a sketch of ocean waves on each side. Pondering what this could mean, I jotted the dream in a journal. My husband and I had just finished a new study that included the journey of the Israelites. In other times of reading and prayer, we were also praying over loved ones and situations. Throughout the year, ‘Mid-Broken Sea’ would come into my mind, but unlike other songs that came quickly, this one stirred within my spirit for quite some time. The title, a design, messages, and connections came, but the lyrics, melody, and musical arrangement did not surface until nearly a year later. As the lyrics and melody came to be, the story danced between Biblical accounts and current ongoings of those we pray will trust God’s hand and allow Him to lead them through their Broken Sea.

"Holy Flame" by Josh Grove - Talented Young Voice Inspires with Worship

Have you already heard Josh Grove's new song, "Holy Flame"? It's an upbeat worship song written and performed by Josh, and what makes this release even more intriguing is that Josh is a super talented 15-year-old singer-songwriter. He first shared this song at a youth event, and the response was so amazing that he was signed up by NRT. This release is the studio version. The song is all about the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, and celebrates God's constant goodness and grace. The lyrics remind us that He is with us in every moment, day, or night, through both joy and hardship.  With lyrics like "I see You rising like a wave // I see Yo u falling like the rain," Josh emphasizes that we can see God in every situation. He's right there with us through all of our ups and downs, offering us hope and ready to guide us (if we reach out and listen). "You're by my side // Until the end of time." What I also find very exciting is that i...

"Back to Life" by James Bizak: Power in the Name of Jesus With Pop Punk Sound

"Back to Life" by James Bizak is a raw, high-energy pop punk track with a bold Christian truth… Whenever we are feeling broken or lost, we will find hope and redemption in Jesus. The choice of this genre is intended to reach a wider audience, as well as more youth, right where they are—possibly feeling broken, abandoned, or even feeling dead inside.  The lyrics reflect a pain and emptiness that so many people are feeling: "I've been broken // Beaten down // My faith stolen." The song acknowledges our feelings of despair, and even more important, it points us to hope, "There's power in your blood // There's power in the name of Jesus." With lines like "When I was dead inside // You brought me back to life," the lyrics emphasize that redemption and restoration can only be found in Him.  James Bizak highlights that Jesus has ultimate authority over darkness, "You see me surrounded // The demons fall back. // … // A sea of never e...
