"You Alone (Worthy)" by Annie Whitson: Searching Heaven and Earth and Finding Only Jesus

(by Jasper Tan) When you're overwhelmed with God's goodness and sovereignty over us, it is songs like "You Alone (Worthy)" by Annie Whitson that manage to fully capture our feelings of gratitude and praise. This song beautifully expresses our devotion and adoration of God's sovereignty over us. Truly, there is no one like Jesus when it comes to someone who deserves our devotion and worship. We can search the vastness of heaven and the depths of the earth, but there is only one God who is truly worthy.

Annie Whitson - You Alone (Worthy)The repetitive and anthemic nature of the chorus "You alone are worthy to be praised" serves as the hook to encourage us to be in a meditative and prayerful atmosphere. This sets the tone for us to examine our faith's current status and build from it in moments when we feel that we feel we are lacking. Also, by incorporating words directly from the Lord's Prayer: "Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven," it reminds us that only God is sovereign, and this is not drawn just from any personal experience but rooted in the biblical truth of God's dominion over us.

In our lifetime, it is essential to regularly give praise and devotion to God. This act strengthens our connection and affinity with him. Doing this regularly will help remind us that there's a God who loves us. And that we reciprocate that love to Him by giving our full obedience as his sons and daughters. That is the only truth that we all should strive to live with. Listen to "You Alone (Worthy)" and let this truth land: "You alone my lips will always praise."
