"How You See Me" by Lauren Gruwell: Grace Reaches Further Than You Think


You are not out of reach of His love.

Some wounds can convince us that we’ve wandered past the point of rescue. Lauren Gruwell wrote “How You See Me” from that place. She admits, “I always feel like I’m the only one who’s out of reach of your loving arms to bring me peace.” Have you ever felt that way? Like grace works for everyone, except for you?

It asks hard questions instead of hiding those doubts: “If you are the Savior of the world, oh can you tell me, if you can save me from myself?” Don’t mistake that as weak faith. That’s honest faith, the kind God actually meets.

Read Isaiah 43:4: “Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you.” He loves you!! Not because you cleaned yourself up first. Not because you earned a place back in His arms. He calls you ‘precious’ while you’re still standing in the mess.

Let that sink in. Stop trying to measure your worth by how far you think you’ve fallen. Distance doesn’t scare God away! God specializes in reaching what looks unreachable. Go ahead and bring Him the parts of your story that you’d rather hide. He already knows what’s going on, but He wants to hear it from you. Then watch what He does with them.

Give “How You See Me” a listen and let the lyrics remind you that His grace works for everyone, including you! Sometimes it helps to use a song to share what your heart isn’t yet able to turn into prayer. “Oh Lord, help me see how you see me.”

"How You See Me" is a song about those of us who have felt that we are "too far gone" for God's love to reach us. For anyone who has wondered if God's grace can reach them, this song is a reminder that there is no place too far for God to reach us. It is an intimate and raw song from the heart.

Have you ever chased what you thought was peace and come up empty?  “I Need God” by Richard Baś is a song for people who keep searching and never find enough.
