Leigh Nash - I Need Thee Every Hour - The Tide Acoustic Sessions
On Friday, November 18, Leigh Nash shared new music with this track titled 'I Need Thee Every Hour - The Tide Acoustic Sessions'.

In this video (below), she performs the well-known song 'I Need Thee Every Hour' acoustically.

This song was originally written by Annie Sherwood Hawks in 1872. She wrote it after a religious experience and realized how much she needed God in her life.

Hawks was a New York native who began writing at the age of 14 and contributed poems to various newspapers throughout her life. She wrote over 400 hymns in total, but only one—this one—is still sung today.

Lowry added music for the hymn as he wrote it down for her.

After her husband died, Hawks reflected on how powerful this song was: 'I did not understand at first why this hymn had touched the great throbbing heart of humanity. It was not until long after, when the shadow fell over my way, the shadow of a great loss, that I understood something of the comforting power in the words which I had been permitted to give out to others in my hour of sweet serenity and peace.'

'Lonely Dirt Road' by Dax: A Journey to Solitude and God

"Heartbeat" by Laura Leighe - Dancing in Worship

Here's a song that's more or less been stuck in my head since I heard it. It's called 'Heartbeat' by Laura Leighe and is what Laura calls a "reggaeton-influenced Christian pop duet" that's all about surrendering to God's rhythm and dancing in worship, no matter what life throws your way.  The lyrics remind me of two scriptures: "Praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe."  - Psalm 150:4 (NIV) and "Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might."  - 2 Samuel 6:14 (NIV). Maybe I'm a bit prejudiced because the song reminds us of our own thoughts when we founded "Christian Dance" years ago and picked a name. Focusing on music that allows us to feel joy and causes us (our hearts) to dance for God, a pure form of worship that we know is pleasing to God.
