"Found in the Hurt" by Presence Music Band: Finding Hope When Healing is Delayed

"Found in the Hurt" by Presence Music Band is a deeply moving song, especially when you know more about the story behind this song. The song was inspired by Leah Monson's own struggles with depression, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts. It speaks to anyone who is wrestling with unanswered questions, faith, and healing. But most of all, this song offers hope, and reminds us that God's purpose often opens doors in ways that we don't immediately see or thinks was possible.

Presence Music Band - Found in the HurtThe song itself is already beautiful, and if you get a chance, I encourage you to watch the video, because the video brings the song even more to life. Seeing the people in the video and briefly hearing what God did for them really touched my heart. We have a God of miracles and too often we just take that for granted!

Leah opens the song by encouraging us to boldly pray and live out our faith. She emphasizes that it is our faith that God desires. And then comes the truth that we're not always willing to hear… Even when healing doesn't come right away (or in this life), there is still purpose in the pain, and there is a gift to be found inside the grief. Instead of passively waiting for some kind of miraculous cure, Leah encourages us to first turn to God's will. However difficult it may seem, we not only find His presence in the healing, but we also find it in the struggle.

We may also find a miracle "in the hurt", because growth, grace, and understanding doesn't happen by escaping the hardship… it happens by walking through it with God. The song encourages us to also say "It is well," when life feels gray or when we don't know/understand the reasons.

May this song remind you to walk together with God and trust the journey. Ask God to help you see the beauty in hardship. May the lyrics inspire you to hold on, to believe, and to embrace His plan through every season of pain and healing.

"Your Love" by Kevin Winebarger - When Mercy Becomes Your Identity

Kevin Winebarger teamed up with Joshua Frerichs and Benji Cowart to create this beautiful song. "Your Love" tackles that discouraging voice we all hear from time to time, the one that whispers that we're not enough and that we are defined by our past. "Once a liar, always a liar," and all kinds of variations along this same line of thought. This song isn't about wallowing in shame. "Your Love" is a celebration of the grace that changes everything.  The opening lines hit hard: "I could believe that I'm not enough // It's clear to see I don't measure up." Yep, we've all been there! But this isn't how God want us to be defined… He loved us first! "It's just what You've done // Because of Your love." That's the heart of everything.  Kevin places the change the God brings into perspective, "I could believe that my mistakes // Will follow me down into the grave // But I'm not who I was....

'Lonely Dirt Road' by Dax: A Journey to Solitude and God

Dax's 'Lonely Dirt Road' is a conversation that Dax has with himself and God. Dax shares his journey of turning mental health walks into healing solitary drives. As you listen, you can almost feel the cruise, where it's just you, your thoughts, and God.  The chorus is so relatable: 'When I need space, that's where I go, a place to escape that nobody knows.' What do you do when life's pressures stack high? Do you also have a space where you can let go? That lonely dirt road that Dax sings about symbolizes solitude, but it is also an incredible opportunity for connecting with God.  Dax's honesty is raw and relatable. 'I didn't want my family to see me cry… dealing with the pressure of trying to provide.' There are times when we all put on a smile to hide how challenging situations may be. Like his father, Dax says that he finds peace on this lonely road, where challenges become opportunities to grow. This shows the core of our faith: that...
