"The List Goes On (Jordan's Song)" by Chris Sarver: Finding Freedom in Faith

Have you ever felt the weight of the past (old chains) even after you're free? Chris Sarver's "The List Goes On (Jordan's Song)" addresses this specific struggle. Chris shared the following: "Like many of you, I have been part of text thread groups whose main purpose is for encouragement and prayer. … About four years ago, in one of those men's groups, my friend from church, Jordan Hanks, shared a message you can see in the picture. It was simple. He wrote about how sometimes we feel the old weight we carried before Jesus lifted it. And when that weight tries to creep back in, he reminds himself of the names Jesus has earned in his life. He is a Healer." In other words, when shame whispers lies, we must speak truth louder.

Chris Sarver - The List Goes On (Jordan's Song)The lyrics confess, "The chains are gone, sometimes I still find that I can feel their weight." Instead of hiding this feeling, Chris Sarver turns it into a moment of worship. He calls out names that Jesus has earned in his life: Healer, Redeemer, and Deliverer. The song also reminds us that the list of His goodness never ends. So, why do we go around, carrying these burdens alone when He has already suffered in our place?

You have the power to encourage today. Say the word. Write the word. Share the word. Watch what God does with words. This song invites you to stand on the foundation that Jesus is when the past tries to rewrite your future. So, go ahead and press play. Let this song remind you that His grace contains a love that only God can give. Your voice matters. Use it to lift your soul. Let hope and praise rise.

Background:

Chris Sarver shared the following:

Your words have unique power. You never know who might be reading, or listening, or what God might spark through something you share. Like many of you, I have been part of text thread groups whose main purpose is for encouragement and prayer. There have been a handful over the years. Some close friends, some friends of friends, and usually some blank faces at the top of the thread. If you know me, you know I am usually quiet in those threads unless something is truly pressing on my heart. But I read. I pray. I carry some of the requests with me. About four years ago in one of those men’s groups, my friend from church, Jordan Hanks, shared a message you can see in the picture. It was simple. He wrote about how sometimes we feel the old weight we carried before Jesus lifted it. And when that weight tries to creep back in, he reminds himself of the names Jesus has earned in his life. He is a Healer. A Redeemer. And as Jordan said, “the list goes on”. The moment I read it, I heard melody. I heard lyrics. I could not wait to grab a guitar. When I did, this song poured out. It has always been one of my favorites to share when I find opportunities to play for people I know. And now, I am grateful to have it beautifully produced by the incredibly talented ???????? so I can finally share it digitally as well… for the blank faces. If you look at the message in the album art after hearing the song you will notice that every idea in the lyrics came straight from that text. So much so that Jordan is listed as a co writer. I barely knew him when he sent that message. Since then, we have become friends. And I can tell you, this is simply who he is. He sends encouragement like that all the time. He had no idea what that one message would become. Now everyone who hears this song is touched by something he shared one morning without thinking twice. That original group no longer exists. I never even learned most of the names in it. But that one message left a permanent mark on me. It reminds me that when the past tries to push its way into my present or rewrite my future, I stand on who Jesus is. He is my Savior. He redeemed my ransom. He took my burden and gave me His. He is My Deliverer. My Healer. And the list truly does go on. All because a man I barely knew sent a message to a group one morning. So… say the thing. Write the thing. Share the thing. And watch what God does.

'Lonely Dirt Road' by Dax: A Journey to Solitude and God

Dax's 'Lonely Dirt Road' is a conversation that Dax has with himself and God. Dax shares his journey of turning mental health walks into healing solitary drives. As you listen, you can almost feel the cruise, where it's just you, your thoughts, and God.  The chorus is so relatable: 'When I need space, that's where I go, a place to escape that nobody knows.' What do you do when life's pressures stack high? Do you also have a space where you can let go? That lonely dirt road that Dax sings about symbolizes solitude, but it is also an incredible opportunity for connecting with God.  Dax's honesty is raw and relatable. 'I didn't want my family to see me cry… dealing with the pressure of trying to provide.' There are times when we all put on a smile to hide how challenging situations may be. Like his father, Dax says that he finds peace on this lonely road, where challenges become opportunities to grow. This shows the core of our faith: that...

Ryan Stevenson - Carry Me (CCM)

Ryan Stevenson’s song ‘Carry Me’ is a powerful and emotive plea for help and guidance, and a reminder of the transformative power of faith. The lyrics are deeply personal and relatable, touching on themes of weariness, loneliness, and uncertainty. The song is a testament to the power of prayer and the strength we can find when we surrender our burdens to God. Stevenson’s own story of finding his way to a deeper understanding of grace and God’s love gives the song even more resonance. The honesty and vulnerability with which he shares his struggles and doubts will resonate with anyone who has faced similar challenges in their own life. The music itself is a beautiful and stirring blend of keyboard, guitar, and electronic elements, creating a haunting and atmospheric sound that perfectly complements the lyrics. The chorus is particularly powerful, with Stevenson’s voice rising to a crescendo as he cries out for help and support. If you’re feeling lost or overwhelmed, or simply need a rem...
