Ready to see God move today?
Kristin wrote “A New Thing!” during a season of real change. This is her third new release this year, and there is a growing group of listeners tuning in to her songs, and that’s not a coincidence. The message in “A New Thing!” emphasizes that something changes when we stop waiting for permission and start expecting God to act. Expecting God to act isn’t the same as expecting God to do what you think you need. This expectation becomes clearer when you listen to the chorus: “See He is doing a new thing // See what blessings He will bring.” Notice that there is an instruction tucked inside the lyrics — see it. Perceive it. Don’t let it pass you by.
The song doesn’t shy away from the hard stuff either. “He came to save the lost man // If only he’d receive it.” Receiving requires surrender and the willingness to accept what is given. Are you willing to let go of what’s familiar and receive something that is much better?
Kristin shared that this whole song is based on Isaiah 43:19: “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” God isn’t slow. He isn’t stuck either, even when we feel that way. Your wilderness season, whatever shape it's in, is exactly where He plants rivers. So stop rehearsing yesterday’s failures. Ask instead: What is God doing right now that I haven’t noticed yet?
His timing is not always the same as our timing, so take a step forward when you see things happening that feel impossible. Pray about it. Name it out loud. Then watch and listen. Learn to recognize His work, and surrender to it. May this song help you to rely more on His timing and His direction. “So don’t give up so fast.”

Background:
“A New Thing!” is an upbeat Christian rock song with a message of renewal and hope. The song’s chorus is based on Isaiah 43:19, in which God says, “See I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” This song reflects how I see this season of my life. These lyrics remind the listener to not give up and to never lose hope, because God will change your life when you seek him. His timing is not always the same as our timing and His ways are higher than our ways. When God decides to move in mighty ways, there’s nothing that any obstacle can do to stop it.
