"Seed to the Sower" by Gresha Schuilling: Open Hands Unlock God's Abundance


What if your giving is meant to multiply? 

A farmer never plants his last seed. He knows the harvest depends on what he’s willing to release into the ground. Gresha Schuilling captures that picture in “Seed to the Sower,” singing, “I won’t hold what You intended // To be planted when I sow.” God doesn’t just meet our needs. He hands us seed with a purpose attached to it. What we do with that seed determines whether it multiplies or sits untouched in a drawer. 

Gresha Schuilling - Seed to the SowerThe apostle Paul writes about this principle in 2 Corinthians 9:10–11: “He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way.” 

Notice the order here. God supplies first. He multiplies second. Your job is in between those two actions — you release what you’ve been given. Think about the following question. Why do so many of us grip our resources so tightly? Fear whispers that scarcity is coming, and when that’s the only voice we’re listening to, we hoard instead of giving. But hoarded seed will never become a harvest. It just sits there in the corner / in your drawer, doing nothing, and worst-case… it may even rot away! 

Here’s a challenge for you today: Give something away before you feel ready. Money, time, encouragement — pick one and release it without trying to calculate the return. Watch what happens when you trust the Source instead of the supply. Your generosity becomes a doorway for God’s abundance to reach people you’ll never meet, and He does it in a manner that is much more effective than we could ever accomplish on our own. 

Give “Seed to the Sower” a listen while you consider what seed you’re holding back. Then sing along with the truth that Gresha declares: “All I have begins with You // The Source of everything.”

Background:

God supplies what we need and gives seed to be sown, then multiplies what is released and increases its fruit. His abundance forms generous hearts and reaches beyond us, producing thanksgiving and glory to Him.

A declaration of consistent devotion and faithfulness to God (by Jasper Tan) Chrystal Williams-Alberty’s “I Love to Praise Your Name” is a beautiful and heartfelt contemporary praise and worship song. "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" by Gethsemane Instrumental: Finding Steady Ground in the Storm

God’s mercies are new every morning — do you notice? “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” by Gethsemane Instrumental is one of the tracks in John Long’s upcoming instrumental project. Gethsemane Instrumental is a space for prayer, a quiet room where listeners can sit with Jesus without distraction. Hardships visited John more than once.
