Ileen Laura - I Am Yours
Ileen Laura has released a Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) track called I Am Yours.

Toronto-Based Christian Artist Ileen Laura Shakes Off Anxiety and Self-Doubt In Uplifting, Affirming New Single “I Am Yours”

Self-doubt at times is inevitable, but when someone struggles with anxiety it can become chronic and amplified. Christian artist Ileen Laura, having experienced that anxiety firsthand, sings an upbeat, uplifting prayer of and for confidence in her soaring, harmony-filled new single “I Am Yours” – available now – from her forthcoming album of the same name, set for release this Spring.

“I am someone who has struggled with anxiety ever since I was a little girl,” Laura said. “My friends know me as a ‘worrywart’ and I am in a constant battle with myself over self-doubt. I wrote “I Am Yours” about this struggle, a little reminder to set aside the opinions of others and focus on the one opinion that matters, God’s.”

The song begins with tinkling piano, and strings that build just the right amount of drama. With her signature crystalline, beautifully lilting voice, Laura narrates the story of being at a low point, mired in feelings of depression and shame:

I’ve taken the longer road to get here
I’m down on my knees I’m singing a prayer
And oh those days that I felt that I couldn’t measure up
And oh those days that I felt that forever wasn’t enough

The chorus starts with a resolute “Well, I am yours!,” and then cue in some gorgeous backing vocals that morph into a journey of harmonies – from soothing “Oooohhs” to sophisticated, intricate layering – all punctuated by elegant string and trumpet accents, driven by an infectious beat.

Recorded at Robeter Productions in Woodbridge, Ontario, and produced by Peter Wellington and Robby Riggs, “I Am Yours” was inspired by the Bible verse 1 Peter 5:7 -- Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. The soar to the song was wholly intentional.

“Peter and I wanted the music to sound upbeat and uplifting because after all, the thought of stripping away our anxieties, self-doubt and fears, while choosing to live in freedom with Jesus by our side is liberating and should be shouted from the rooftops,” Laura said.

A passionate mother of two, wife, and believer in Christ, Ileen Laura is a singer and songwriter who thrives on creating powerful and moving Christian music inspired by her deeply meaningful life experiences. Her previous single “Sit Beside Me” dealt with the shifting of responsibilities she and her husband undertook to re-prioritize her music career, ultimately bringing them closer. In 2010, she released the full-length album Mindful Conversations. She has opened for Walk Off The Earth and Justin Nozuka, and has performed at the Scene Music Festival. She is excitedly anticipating the release of her second album.

Lyrics:

I Am Yours
I’ve taken the longer road to get here,
I’m down on my knees I’m singing a prayer,
And oh those days that I felt that I couldn’t measure up,
And oh those days that I felt that forever wasn’t enough,
Well I am yours!
I am yours,
Lord lead me
I am yours,
Breathe in me
I’ve wasted my time on finding the words,
I find what I need as I read out each verse,
And oh those days that I felt I couldn’t measure up,
And oh those days that I felt that I couldn’t fill my cup,
Lord lead me to see in the right direction,
Lord help me to stand in my convictions,
And when the walls are tall and I cannot break them down,
Speak through me to the world so they all come tumbling down,
'Cause I am yours!
I am yours,
Lord lead me,
I am yours,
Breathe in me,
I am yours,
Speak through me,
I am yours!
I lift up my hands oh God,
I lay out my deepest scars oh,
I trust you hold me in your arms,
Father find me and remind me that I,
I am yours!
I am yours,
Lord lead me,
I am yours,
Breathe in me,
I am yours,
Speak through me,
I am yours,
Lord lead me,
I am yours, I am yours, I am yours, I am yours!

'Lonely Dirt Road' by Dax: A Journey to Solitude and God

Dax's 'Lonely Dirt Road' is a conversation that Dax has with himself and God. Dax shares his journey of turning mental health walks into healing solitary drives. As you listen, you can almost feel the cruise, where it's just you, your thoughts, and God.  The chorus is so relatable: 'When I need space, that's where I go, a place to escape that nobody knows.' What do you do when life's pressures stack high? Do you also have a space where you can let go? That lonely dirt road that Dax sings about symbolizes solitude, but it is also an incredible opportunity for connecting with God.  Dax's honesty is raw and relatable. 'I didn't want my family to see me cry… dealing with the pressure of trying to provide.' There are times when we all put on a smile to hide how challenging situations may be. Like his father, Dax says that he finds peace on this lonely road, where challenges become opportunities to grow. This shows the core of our faith: that...

"Wanna Be Like You" by One Common: Letting Go of People-Pleasing for Good

"Wanna Be Like You" by One Common is an interesting song that was born out of this duo's struggles with wanting to please people and the pressure they felt to perform. The song reminds us to stop chasing others for their approval and start chasing Jesus instead. "I'm so done tryna be someone else just to keep people's attention," they sing. It can be very exhausting to constantly pretend and perform. The song reminds us to keep our hearts and lives centered on Jesus—the only one who truly is worthy of being our role model. Not for applause. Not for attention. But because His way is the only one that brings real peace and fulfillment in our lives.  The need to please others and perform is probably a feeling that many of us know all too well — but it doesn't have to define us.  The lyrics of the song put the issue right there on the table: "Who am I tryna be, who am I tryna please? That's the question." And the answer? Ofcourse, Jesus i...

"the cost (given for us)" by HOMECOMING: Feeling the Weight of Grace

HOMECOMING's "the cost (given for us)" looks at the weight of what Jesus gave up to save humanity. The backstory that HOMECOMING wrote this song after talking about how easy it is to say "Jesus died for me" without really thinking about what that means. Like, what did it actually cost Him? Their approach wasn't to create another "thank You" song, but a song that invites us to slow down and truly feel the sacrifice He made. His sacrifice wasn't just a painful moment on a cross. It was everything. He gave up heaven. He was rejected, betrayed, beaten… and He still chose the cross for us. That kind of love doesn't make sense. But it's real. The lyrics give words to the awe we feel: "You took my place // How can it be // By your grace I'm saved." And lines like "Your blood washed me clean" and "By your stripes I'm healed" remind us of the freedom and healing that He paid for. Then comes the part that ...
