Matt Pelt - Standing In The Ashes (CCM)


There's nothing quite like the power of Jesus to change a person's life. The song 'Standing in the Ashes' by Matt Pelt beautifully captures this experience, describing how Jesus' love, grace, and sacrifice can take us from where we were to the person we were meant to be. Matt wrote this song a while ago (prior to August 2020), and has now officially released it... and we're excited about this release.

It speaks of the love of Jesus as the river in the desert and the perfect shelter in the midst of life's storms. Matt sings about a new day turning, revival burning, and hearing Jesus' voice sing that He is still overcoming. The chorus is one that stays in my head long after the song has finished, where Matt sings about letting the fire of Jesus bring revival, purifying and burning down all of our failures, leaving behind ashes of who you used to be.

The message of the song is clear, Jesus' transformative power is real, and it can change us from the inside out. It doesn't matter how far we've fallen, or how deep we've sunk, the love and grace of Jesus can always reach us and raise us up, out of the ashes, to become the person that He meant us to be.
