'Garland of Roses' by Andrew Macdonald: Uniting Our Stories with Heaven's Hymn


Andrew Macdonald's 'Garland of Roses' is an exploration of one of the key elements / traditions we have within Christianity, the tradition of prayer. A song that takes a closer look the meaning behind a centuries-old tradition of prayer. What I love about these discovery journeys is that my faith feels richer when I am able to see and understand the meaning that drives these traditions, even if it is not part of my own Christian way of living. 

Andrew Macdonald - Garland of RosesThe 'Garland of roses' is a hopeful plea for guidance, where one asks for intercession through the Rosary. For many, the Rosary and other forms of prayer ropes play an important part in engaging with something bigger than us all, reaching out to God. 

As the lyrics unfold, we're reminded of the joys, struggles, and glories of both Jesus' and Mary's journeys - mirroring some of the ups and downs we also face in our own lives. Through the ages, the essence of human experience hasn't really changed. Mankind has always faced trials and triumphs, and they keep on bringing us closer to empathy, understanding, and ultimately to God's love. 

It is beautiful to hear Andrew singing about the meaning behind this tradition of prayer. Prayers that help us find comfort in knowing that after every hardship we will find triumph and glory. A channel for a heart-to-heart with the divine, where we can openly reflect on what we are facing and find the courage to see that there are brighter days beyond the trials. 

Regardless of your prayer tradition, may 'Garland of Roses' fill you with hope and inspiration, remind you that we're all part of this divine narrative, and are crowned with His grace.

"Rider of Glory" by Whispering Hope: The King Returns Victorious

Imagine the skies tearing open with a thunderous cry. Difficult to imagine? Well, based on Revelation 19 and Daniel 7, we believe that day will come! When the skies tear open, it announces the moment we all have been waiting for.  Whispering HOPE captures this moment in "Rider of Glory," a track that talks about Christ's return as the conquering King. The lyrics paint a vivid picture: "The Faithful True rides forth again," an arrival that doesn't come with quiet humility, but shatters the prideful kingdoms and men with holy fire and establishes an everlasting reign.  Instead of fear, Whispering HOPE invites us to stand in awe. "Thank You, Jesus" by Risen Sons: Chains Broken, Freedom Found

Risen Sons' "Thank You, Jesus" is a song about how God can redeem us from our brokenness, how He gives us a new purpose, and how we can contribute to spreading His light to others. Risen Sons start the song by acknowledging how brokenness causes sleepless nights: "I remember the nights I couldn't find rest, chasing shadows with an empty chest." You've most likely experienced times of brokenness in your life. God teaches us that brokenness isn't our end state… There is light on the horizon! God offers each one of us a way forward.  When His mercy steps in, everything changes. "Mercy found me, grace called my name, now I'm alive and I'll never be the same."
