"Wait" by Reflect Church: Finding Worship in Patience

"Wait" by Reflect Church is about coming back to the absolute basics of waiting on God and how challenging that can be, possibly even challenging our faith. The song invites us to slow down and trust in God's timing and ask God to help push us past the awkwardness, impatience, and distraction that we feel when we are still.

Reflect Church - WaitSomething very interesting happens in the waiting… You begin to become more and more aware of God's presence and greatness. This stage is where faith grows, because you get a better sense of how much God really loves you, how much He's for you, and what He is already doing in your life. There are blessings in the waiting, although we may not always see it that way.

The repetitive assurance in the lyrics, "We're going to wait on you," is all about creating a genuine commitment in our hearts and minds, a commitment that helps to cut through the noise of everyday distractions. The verses honor titles like Creator, Forgiver, Redeemer, and Healer, reminding us of God's multifaceted love and that there is never a reason to hold back our praises.

"We're not going to wait for the rocks to cry // Our lips will fill with praise // We're not going to wait till the end of time // You're worthy of it all // We're not going to hide our hearts from you // We're holding nothing back // We're not going to miss a moment's praise // You're worthy of it all." God is truly worthy of all our adoration.

The key message of this song is that it's in the stillness that we really may discover God's greatness and love, and this discovery can change our mindset from expectation to awe-filled worship. May this song encourage you to embrace the stillness and rediscover His greatness and love for you.

Skillet - Valley of Death (CCM)

Skillet has released a Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) track called Valley of Death. The global health crisis of the last two years has led to numerous questions regarding why bad things happen to good people. Skillet's John Cooper explains why he believes God allowed the pandemic to happen. Skillet has released their new album Dominion through Atlantic Records last Friday (Jan. 14). A discussion with 'Loudwire Nights' host Toni Gonzalez brought up the track "Valley of Death," which contains the lyrics: "Someone said this is all part of the plan / But I don't understand." Gonzalez then asked him why he thinks God would allow a pandemic. This is what Cooper said: "Well, the first answer is that we're not good people. We're all fallen and we are all in desperate need of salvation through Jesus. So, we're not actually good people, we all do bad stuff. We all cheat, we've all lied, we're all greedy and as much as the most lov...

"In the Room" by Matt Maher feat. Chris Brown: A Heartfelt Desire for Divine Presence

Matt Maher's collaboration with Chris Brown, 'In the Room,' is a soul-stirring Christian song that encapsulates the profound longing to witness transformative moments in the presence of God. The lyrics express the desire to be present when God's power touches broken hearts, ignites faith, and brings healing. The song's verses convey a yearning for those irreplaceable instances when heaven and earth intersect, leading to changed hearts and restored lives. The chorus's declaration, ' I just wanna be in the room when You move,' beautifully encapsulates the eagerness to witness God's miraculous work up close. The bridge's vivid imagery of tearing off the roof and pushing through the crowd reflects the determination to encounter God, no matter the obstacles. The repetition of the bridge emphasizes the earnest plea to witness God's breakthroughs and freedom. 'In the Room' is an invitation to be part of moments that are greater than oneself...

"Sunlight (Storge)" by Chelsea Chaisson: Reminisce the Simpler Times

(by Jasper Tan) Feel good, light-hearted, easy listening track. That's how I find Chelsea Chaisson's new single called "Sunlight (Storge)." I was kind of curious what the word "Storge" means, so I had to look it up. According to Wikipedia, "Storge is a Greek word that refers to natural, familial affection or love, particularly the bond between parents and children, as well as among family members and close friends. It is characterized by familiarity, dependence, and loyalty, often rooted in kinship bonds and shared experiences." Sounds very familiar? Of course, it should be, because as per the description, it actually describes what Christian love is. Or should I say how God loves us as His children? Chelsea was inspired to write this song by reminiscing about her childhood, marked by simpler times spent with her cousins and their grandma.  Countless times, we always heard the saying that we all should have faith like a child. The reason for that i...
