"Pick Up That Book" by Presence Music: Stop Searching, Start Reading

Presence Music - Pick Up That Book

When did you last open the one book that actually has the answers?

“Pick Up That Book” by Presence Music is an energetic call to stop searching in the wrong places and start finding life in the right one.

The song opens with the following lines: “Are you walking around in circles to prove // you can fill up the void that’s in you // But everything you try just leaves you empty.” Sound familiar? Many people sit in church, listen to the sermons, and still walk out wondering whether and how all of this applies to their lives. Mistakes pile up. Feelings of unworthiness grow. The gap between who we are and who we want to be feels impossible to close.

But here’s the turn: “Missteps and regrets holding you back // From leaving your burdens and hurts in past // Like you deserve a life long sentence // He intended a grace filled lesson.” Think about this for a moment. This way of looking at your life changes everything, because you were never meant to carry that weight forever and do it on your own.

2 Timothy 3:16–17 — “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”

God’s Word isn’t a rulebook designed to remind you of your failures. The Bible is a living guide that shapes, corrects, restores, and equips you. Every passage has a purpose. Its words aren’t just history… They’re a personal invitation into something deeper, a relationship that rewrites your story from the inside out.

Open the Bible daily. Study the pages. Let what’s written work its way into how you think, how you speak, how you choose, and how people remember you. The song’s bridge encourages you, “If you need forgiveness, restoring, revival, or mercy… then pick up that book.”

Listen to “Pick Up That Book” by Presence Music. Let it encourage you to pick up that book and find something bigger than yourself. May His Word be “flowing through your soul // like water in the river.”

(Related scripture: 2 Timothy 3:16–17; Psalm 119:105; Hebrews 4:12)

Background:

“Pick Up That Book” tells the story of searching for peace and coming up empty, even after trying everything, only to find real change through a deeper kind of truth. Inspired by the pop-country energy of CAIN, We The Kingdom, and Anne Wilson, Presence Music crafts an uplifting song that’s built to move. It points to a lasting answer for the emptiness we carry, found in something bigger than ourselves.

"Psalm 112 (I'm Confident)" by Young Presley: No Fear in Bad News

What is your house built on?  We all face bad news at some point or other in life. It could be a diagnosis, a layoff, a broken relationship — the question isn’t whether hard news will come, but how you’ll respond when it happens. Young Presley wrestled with that question while he was writing his song “Psalm 112 (I’m Confident)”. The song is part of a Psalms series, coming from a simple vision: turn scripture into music that people will actually listen to. These songs are not intended as a substitute for reading the Bible, but an invitation to further read and explore the Bible. The chorus captures the key message of Psalm 112: “I do not fear bad news, I’m confident, trust in the Lord who cares to be my confidence.” That’s not the denial of bad news. It’s a decision to place your confidence and trust in God.  Look at what David wrote centuries ago in Psalm 112:7–8: “He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. His heart is steady; he will not be afrai...

"Holy Spirit" by Tamika Tyan: When God's Presence Takes Over

The Holy Spirit is more alive than you think. Tamika Tyan wrote “Holy Spirit” during the COVID-19 lockdown — not from a place of peace, but from panic. Stuck at home, cut off from every outside outlet, she felt the walls closing in. Does it sound familiar? God met her in this totally unexpected situation (one that we all were facing), and He challenged her to use her talents to create. What came out wasn’t a quiet, reverent hymn. It was something vibrant, intimate, and electric. That’s exactly what Tamika captured in the song “Holy Spirit”. She describes the Holy Spirit as intoxicating, alive, exhilarating — and the song carries that energy. “It feels like a rush of energy has been released from You and is now flowing through me,” she sings. Like the prophet Jeremiah, who described God’s word as “fire in my bones,” she found something she simply could not contain or walk away from. Now, compare this “energy” with what is described Acts 2:4, “And they were all filled with the Holy Sp...

"Mess of Mine" by Presence Music: He Never Leaves the Room

Can God really sit with you in the dark?  Depression doesn’t announce itself politely. It piles up like laundry, like dishes, like a house of cards threatening to collapse. That’s the picture that Presence Music and SAPHIRE show us with their song “Mess of Mine”. This song gives us an honest, unfiltered look at what it’s like to smile in the mirror while whispering, “I’m fine, but I’m not really fine.” The song isn’t offering easy answers here. The singers name the exhaustion, the forgotten meals, the nights that blur into mornings. The bridge of the song carries an important message: “I won’t fear unknowns, cause I know the One who holds it all. He sits with me at home.” That line changes everything. Even when you’re carrying depression, anxiety, and those quiet struggles behind closed doors, God is there for you, and He’s eager to sit with you. He doesn’t wait for you to clean up before He shows up. He is already there!  Psalm 34:18 (ESV) says, “The LORD is near to the broke...
