"Any Vessel" by Taylor Pride: God Doesn't Need You Perfect, Just Willing


Do you ever feel unqualified for what God is calling you to? 

You’re not alone. We think we need to be polished, put-together, and proven before God can use us for anything meaningful. Taylor Pride wrote “Any Vessel” to dismantle that lie.

The lyrics don’t ask for talent or perfect track records. It asks to come with “open hands” and “a willing heart.” Taylor writes about bringing “the empty jar” instead of a full one — a striking picture, because who offers an empty jar and expects it to be useful? Yet that’s the whole point. God doesn’t need your resources. He needs your surrender. 

This message is based on Scripture. In 2 Corinthians 12:9, God tells Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” It doesn’t say “despite your weakness”; it says “through it”. Your unfinished character, your past mistakes, your shaky confidence? None of it disqualifies you. It’s the very material God works with. 

So, how can you apply this going forward in your day-to-day, your hard conversation, your unfinished project? Stop waiting for readiness or perfection that may never come. Show up with what you’ve got, even if it means showing up empty-handed. Offer God the burden you’re carrying instead of hiding it, and let Him fill you. Let today be the day you make room for Him, rather than the day that you finally get it all together — because that day isn’t coming, and God never asked for it.
