"Lifeline" by Hudson Bezotte: Faith That Holds in Winter Seasons

Where do you turn when signs stop coming?

Hudson Bezotte’s “Lifeline” opens with a confession, one you may also recognize. “I feel like I’ve been here a while.” He was met by Jesus as a child, and He “walked with me for miles.” But life happens, and it can be tough to keep the fire going “in the winter.”

Hudson Bezotte - LifelineHave you been there, or is this where you’re at today? You still believe, but the wonder has cooled.

Hudson wrote the song during a daily songwriting challenge, and the lyrics carry a lifetime of following Jesus: the disappointments, the desperation, and the hope that has outlasted them. He admits, “It’s not zero AD, I can’t just follow a star.” Nobody hands him a miracle on request. So he wrestles, and he demands “sign after sign.” God doesn’t scold him. He tears “through the nonsense” to remind Hudson (and each of us) that He is divine.

That pattern runs through Scripture. Remember? Thomas wanted proof, and Jesus met him with nail-scarred hands. Then Jesus said something that applies to every believer who wasn’t in a position to see those scars for themselves: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29, ESV)

Faith was never meant to be based on constant evidence. Faith is based on a faithful Person, our Lord and Savior. The winters of life, when our prayers seem to go unanswered and our feelings/faith fade, don’t cancel His presence. Bring your doubts to Him. Tell Him the truth about your cold heart. Then ask for what Bezotte also asks for: help to trust Him when the signs are quiet. Take one small step of obedience today, even if you’re not feeling anything. See what happens.

“Lifeline” is the 6th song on Hudson’s EP: “TRY HARDER.” Give “Lifeline” a listen today and let it lift your eyes to God. Lord, “Help me to live like I know you’re real.”

(Related scripture: John 20:29; Psalm 73:26; Mark 9:24)

Background:

Written as part of a daily songwriting challenge, Lifeline reflects the result of a lifetime of following Jesus—the disappointments, the desperation, and ultimately the hope. The first part of the song takes the listener through the steady faithfulness of Jesus in every season, despite not seeing the signs and wonders that someone might expect and seek. However, the song culminates in a triumphal anthem of hope, and the cry of our hearts to trust God even when we don’t get what we want, and to allow him to guide our steps in faith. The song was created with help from drummer David Roberts, and mixing engineer Jaden Lopez. It is the final track on the upcoming EP “TRY HARDER”.

Release date: October 2, 2026

"What A Savior" by Will & Jacinta Ellis and Crossing Life Worship: Never Growing Numb to Grace

Have you ever grown numb to a miracle?  “What A Savior” by Will & Jacinta Ellis and Crossing Life Worship began as a chorus in a co-write, before it took on a life of its own. Will & Jacinta wanted something rich and almost hymn-like, a bold declaration of who Jesus is — not a tired restatement, but a fresh look. They never wanted to grow “used to” what Jesus accomplished, so they wrote about holding on to Him in every season, regardless of whether it’s calm or chaotic.  The opening lines start with the redemption through Jesus’ blood: “The precious fount, that cleansing flow, the Son of God poured out for all.” That’s the blood that Jesus spilled for you. The song moves from the cleansing through His blood to the result: “The debt I owed and all sin’s claims were buried with You in the grave.” Your debt. Buried. Gone.  Here’s where it gets even more personal. Romans 5:8 says, “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” ...

"If Jesus Danced" by Cameron Pruitt: Making Room for Laughter in Your Walk with God

Does your faith leave room for laughter? Can you imagine Jesus kicking off His sandals, dancing to a rhythm only He can hear? Strange thought? Maybe, but Cameron Pruitt’s song “If Jesus Danced” asks exactly that: “Sometimes I wonder if Jesus danced.” It’s a question worth pondering. Most of us picture Jesus as solemn, serious, carrying the weight of the world. But rarely do we picture Him laughing so hard that “the room relaxed.” Cameron insists this joy was real. Jesus wasn’t just a teacher of hard truths. He was, as Cameron sings, “the life of the party, radiant friend.” He warmed hearts. He had humor. People wanted to be near Him, not because He demanded reverence, but because His presence felt like sunshine. This connects to Psalm 16:11: “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Joy isn’t a distraction from faith. Joy is the destination. God doesn’t just tolerate your happiness; He included j...

"Hallelujah Anyway" by Zach Garrett: Praise That Doesn't Wait for the Storm to Pass

What if worship doesn’t require having answers? Storm clouds hide the stars. The road stretches on with no map and no end in sight. That’s the world Zach Garrett describes in the opening lines of “Hallelujah Anyway,” and if you’ve walked through a season of loss or confusion, you already recognize the setting. Zach wrote this song from inside real darkness, in his case, a stretch of loss, hurt, and unanswered questions that didn’t resolve on his timeline. Zach’s message is that we don’t need to wait for clarity before we choose to worship. Like Zach, we may need to make that choice daily, sometimes hourly, possibly even through gritted teeth. The bridge describes a common misconception: “I used to think that faith meant having all the answers, that doubt was just a sign I wasn’t strong enough to stand.” How many of us carry that same lie? We assume that real faith looks certain, steady, unshaken. We get confused when it isn’t! Zach flips the definition of faith: “Maybe trusting You me...
