"You Know That I Love You" by David Bollmann: Love That Answers Failure with Mercy

Jesus meets your failure with mercy, not rejection.

Peter once promised that he’d never leave. And before a rooster crowed, he’d denied Jesus three times. Have you ever failed at the very thing you swore you’d never fail at?

David Bollmann - You Know That I Love YouDavid Bollmann’s third single, “You Know That I Love You”, begins with a promise much like Peter’s: “Others may deny You, I won’t.” The song draws on John 21, where the risen Jesus meets Peter on a beach. He doesn’t scold Peter. He asks him one question, three times over, and Peter, hurt but honest, answers: “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.”

Peter brings no excuses and no résumé. Only his (imperfect) love, offered with empty hands. The lyrics echo that same longing: “There’s gotta be something I can give You, some cross I can bear too.” We too may feel the desire to repay Jesus for what He has done. But can we? Never! He holds us and will “never cast a stone.”

So what do we bring? The truth. Tell Jesus, as honestly as you can, where you failed Him, and tell Him you love Him anyway. Skip the polished prayer. He already knows what happened, He knows your heart, but He still wants to hear it from your lips.

Then listen for what comes next. Jesus answered Peter with a job: “Feed my sheep.” Love turns into service. Pick one person this week and show them kindness in His name. Your failures haven’t cancelled the gifts that He placed in you.

Give this song a listen today. Let David’s words become your own prayer while you drive, at work, at home, or on a walk. “To show You my love, You know that I love You.”

(Related scripture: John 21:17; Romans 8:1; 1 John 4:19)

Background:

“You Know That I Love You” is David’s third single, continuing his journey of creating music that points listeners to Jesus.

Inspired by John 21, the song captures the beautiful moment when Jesus restores Peter after he denied Him three times. Rather than rejection, Peter is met with mercy and love - a story many of us can see ourselves in.

At its heart, the song asks a simple question: What can we offer the One who has given us everything? Despite our failures and shortcomings, we can still respond with Peter’s confession: “Lord, You know that I love You.”

David hopes this song invites listeners into that same honest expression of love and devotion to Jesus.

"Whoop The Devil" by Destin Dumais: Standing in Christ's Authority

Who gave you the authority to stand firm? Destin Dumais opens his debut single with an amazing sound that excites, gets you up on your feet, and gets you ready to conquer. “Whoop The Devil” is a hard-hitting country-rock song with one clear message: As believers, we hold real authority in Christ! The song starts with a cowboy scene. “Gonna saddle up and ride, ain’t no place you can hide.” Then comes the line that makes an important difference: “Been deputized, authorized.” Nobody appoints himself to this work. The badge was handed over at Calvary. Jesus said it plainly in Luke 10:19: “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.” Who gives the authority? Jesus does! This kind of confidence never relies on your strength, your mood, or your track record. This confidence rests on His name, and His name only! Does that now mean that our fears will disappear for good? Not always. Destin admits that...

"Faith Like Daniel" by Marlee Smith: Praising God When the World Says No

Who do you trust when everyone disagrees? What do you do when the world says that your God doesn’t matter? Marlee Smith’s energetic pop-rock song, “Faith Like Daniel,” comes with an all-teenage female band behind her, and her response to what the world says is anything but timid. When the world feels overturned, she’ll keep “praising my Father,” even when the world says she shouldn’t. Remember what we read in the Bible about Daniel? Daniel knew that pressure. A royal decree banned prayer to anyone but the king for a period of thirty days. Daniel heard the news, went home, opened his windows, and prayed as he always had. No speeches. No protest. Just steady faith, three times a day. Then came the lions, and what happened that night in the den became a testimony. Scripture says, “No kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God” (Daniel 6:23). Daniel never trusted that his circumstances would be easy. He trusted the One who stood over them. Marlee’s message carries t...

"I’ll Rejoice" by David Dowdell: Finding Joy in God When Plans Fail

Can you praise God when nothing goes right? Empty vines. Failed crops. A barn with no animals. David Dowdell opens his song, “I’ll Rejoice”, with a list of losses that is so complete that it feels as if “there is nothing left at all.” David took his inspiration from the book of Habakkuk and wrote a defiant anthem of praise for anyone whose plans have fallen apart (… we’ve all had that happen to us, one way or another…). The song also asks the question most of us try to avoid: “What if I never get to live the life I wanted?” Will you still trust God when all you have left is “a tired and broken heart” ? Be honest with yourself. Just about everyone has a ready answer for the sunny days, but hardly an answer for the dark ones. Habakkuk didn’t pretend. He saw disaster coming and said so. Still he wrote: “Yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.” (Habakkuk 3:18, ESV) Notice how this verse starts with the word “yet.” His joy didn’t wait for circumstance...
