"Sunlight (Storge)" by Chelsea Chaisson: Reminisce the Simpler Times


(by Jasper Tan) Feel good, light-hearted, easy listening track. That's how I find Chelsea Chaisson's new single called "Sunlight (Storge)." I was kind of curious what the word "Storge" means, so I had to look it up. According to Wikipedia, "Storge is a Greek word that refers to natural, familial affection or love, particularly the bond between parents and children, as well as among family members and close friends. It is characterized by familiarity, dependence, and loyalty, often rooted in kinship bonds and shared experiences." Sounds very familiar? Of course, it should be, because as per the description, it actually describes what Christian love is. Or should I say how God loves us as His children? Chelsea was inspired to write this song by reminiscing about her childhood, marked by simpler times spent with her cousins and their grandma. 

Chelsea Chaisson - Sunlight (Storge)Countless times, we always heard the saying that we all should have faith like a child. The reason for that is that children are usually characterized by their worry-free and care-free outlook towards the world they live in. This is the secondary message that the song wants to share.

Chelsea's childhood is also marked by memories of the carefree times spent with her family. And I could perfectly understand why the song was composed as easy to the ears because it evokes that feeling of nostalgia with its acoustic sound. It allows us to do some time traveling to the old times when we were young and carefree. Contrasting that to the world that we navigate now as adults, with all the worries that come with it. This song is a nice reminder that while we were young once, we can always replicate that moment at least with our Faith in God. That we can always cast our worries and burden upon him and just live life without the cares and worries because God is here to carry us.

"Consider the Lilies" by Madison Earl: A Gentle Call to Trade Worry for Trust

Who carries your worries when they feel too heavy? Arizona worship leader Madison Earl wrote “Consider the Lilies” for anyone who has lain awake worrying about tomorrow’s problems. It is the third of four original songs she plans to release in 2026. The message for this song is inspired by Matthew 6:26–34. Madison’s hope is that listeners remember that “they don’t have to carry everything on their own.” The chorus asks the questions we all ask. “What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?” Your questions may also be about an increase in rent, unpaid bills, test results, a difficult boss, a wayward child, and more… all of those questions fit. "Lifeline" by Hudson Bezotte: Faith That Holds in Winter Seasons

Where do you turn when signs stop coming? Hudson Bezotte’s “Lifeline” opens with a confession, one you may also recognize. “I feel like I’ve been here a while.” He was met by Jesus as a child, and He “walked with me for miles.” But life happens, and it can be tough to keep the fire going “in the winter.” Have you been there, or is this where you’re at today? You still believe, but the wonder has cooled. Hudson wrote the song during a daily songwriting challenge, and the lyrics carry a lifetime of following Jesus: the disappointments, the desperation, and the hope that has outlasted them. He admits, “It’s not zero AD, I can’t just follow a star.” Nobody hands him a miracle on request. So he wrestles, and he demands “sign after sign.” God doesn’t scold him.
