WLD CHSE’s "That Amazing Grace": Inspired by a Classic Hymn

WLD CHSE's "That Amazing Grace" carries a truth that many will remember from an older hymn with an almost identical title. He recalls singing "Amazing Grace" as a child in his grandmother's church, but it wasn't until years later that he understood the hymn's message. WLD CHSE shares: "There's this moment in my life where I realized the true meaning of "Amazing Grace" and how it should also make us want to be grateful and embrace life fully." That thought is the driver behind this song, and the message comes with fresh urgency.

WLD CHSE - That Amazing GraceThe lyrics of the song describe the moment that His grace became personal. The song starts with "In the darkest of valleys with the shadow of death," drowning in worry, breathless and overwhelmed, praying for rescue. No matter how dark our valley is, His light will break through: "Is someone sending me a sign?" We already know the answer… WLD CHSE sings: "You've always been saying // You're in the business of saving." God's grace isn't just history. His amazing grace is here and now and within your reach.

My favorite part of the song is the chorus, "I've found amazing grace and how sweet it is to sing // That You would go into the death and grave // To save a wretch like me." Our Savior doesn't offer us passive salvation; He changes us from the inside out. "Now I'm walking in faith like there's a brand new part of me," where we may trade our shame for identity and our fear for eternal freedom.

"That Amazing Grace" doesn't just remind us of rescue, it inspires us to take action. Embrace your identity and let Him lead your ways. Press play and sing along. Recognize how God's amazing grace is at work in your life.

"Your Love" by Kevin Winebarger - When Mercy Becomes Your Identity

Kevin Winebarger teamed up with Joshua Frerichs and Benji Cowart to create this beautiful song. "Your Love" tackles that discouraging voice we all hear from time to time, the one that whispers that we're not enough and that we are defined by our past. "Once a liar, always a liar," and all kinds of variations along this same line of thought. This song isn't about wallowing in shame. "Your Love" is a celebration of the grace that changes everything.  The opening lines hit hard: "I could believe that I'm not enough // It's clear to see I don't measure up." Yep, we've all been there! But this isn't how God want us to be defined… He loved us first! "It's just what You've done // Because of Your love." That's the heart of everything.  Kevin places the change the God brings into perspective, "I could believe that my mistakes // Will follow me down into the grave // But I'm not who I was....

"Man I Used To Be" by Dax: Half the Weight, Double the Faith

"Man I Used To Be" by Dax is a very personal song. Dax had promised himself that he wouldn't release new music until he'd stayed sober for six months, the time he needed to get his priorities straight and clear his mind. "Man I Used To Be" is the sound of his first clean breath, life with God by his side. Dax lays it bare: "Trials and tribulations, all my past trauma," he acknowledges, along with "generational curses from daddy and mama," and the "addictions that clouded my eyes." The honesty about his past struggles makes the message of this song so relatable and powerful.  The chorus is about the moment that the script was flipped, "I'm half the man I used to be." Not a broken man, but a man who has been freed from the burdens that weren't his to carry and kept him from God. "I don't ever chase, I got God," declaring that his new identity is anchored in faith. It's a shrug and a testimo...

'Lonely Dirt Road' by Dax: A Journey to Solitude and God

Dax's 'Lonely Dirt Road' is a conversation that Dax has with himself and God. Dax shares his journey of turning mental health walks into healing solitary drives. As you listen, you can almost feel the cruise, where it's just you, your thoughts, and God.  The chorus is so relatable: 'When I need space, that's where I go, a place to escape that nobody knows.' What do you do when life's pressures stack high? Do you also have a space where you can let go? That lonely dirt road that Dax sings about symbolizes solitude, but it is also an incredible opportunity for connecting with God.  Dax's honesty is raw and relatable. 'I didn't want my family to see me cry… dealing with the pressure of trying to provide.' There are times when we all put on a smile to hide how challenging situations may be. Like his father, Dax says that he finds peace on this lonely road, where challenges become opportunities to grow. This shows the core of our faith: that...
