"He Must Increase" by Rorie: Humbling ourselves in God’s presence


Inspired by the verses John 3:30, Philippians 3:7–8, and John 10:27, Rorie releases "He Must Increase", a beautiful song that reminds us of the sound of CCM from the 2000s, easily the era when the rise of CCM was at its peak. Rorie sings the song with earnestness as she opens the lines "The seasons change and we are aging, But You alone are God of the ages." You'll immediately know that this song is putting God front and center. There's a certain aspect of the song that clearly wants to remind us that God will always be bigger than us. That his glory and mercy will always shine through, and we are mere travelers in the world that he built. Everything emanates from him, and we cannot claim to be bigger than God. 

Rorie - He Must IncreaseIt's a humbling reminder that what we have, what we attained, it all comes as a blessing that He has gifted to us. We cannot claim that it is our works that brought us the joys and triumphs. These gifts and accomplishments are nothing without Him. Life won't have meaning without God in our lives. And that is the message that the song wants to impart to its listeners. There are so many ways to approach the theme musically, but Rorie's style fits nicely. The repetitive guitar strums are played to progressively build the reaching point of the message, until it crescendos to invite us to sing along and bring praise and glory to God. And from there on, we are brought to the heights of the song's full declaration that nothing will ever supersede God. Our existence is nothing but a gift from God. And we must learn to humble ourselves before him. And with a final declaration, He must increase in our lives' presence. 

So what are we waiting for? Let us decrease our worth from worldly standards and focus on increasing godliness in our lives.

“I Believe” by Reagan Nichole: A Ten-Year-Old’s Bold Declaration of Faith

What if darkness can’t stay where Jesus lives? Eleven-year-old Reagan Nichole from Texas wrote “I Believe” right after she turned ten. Most of us wait decades before saying what we believe out loud. "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God" by Robby Robinson & Andrea Hammond: Stand Firm in His Victory

What fortress stands when everything else shakes? Martin Luther wrote “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” in a time of upheaval.
