(by Jasper Tan) After making a review of Action Worship's song "All Praise (Dawn)" early this year (which, by the way, moved me so much), Action Worship is here once more with a beautiful follow-up single called "At The Feet (Midnight)." Continuing their songwriting sessions at a beach house retreat, "At The Feet" is a powerful and once more immersive Christian contemporary worship song that captures a raw and intimate atmosphere of worship. Like their other previously released songs, the track is anchored in a "Beach House" setting, leaning on a warm, organic, and slightly lo-fi feel as compared to the more traditional stadium worship recordings of other Worship songs. This makes the song feel more like a shared spiritual experience rather than a polished studio recording. This has always been Action Worship's greatest strength with their songs. And this creative process has definitely defined the signature sound of the Action Worship team.
With the arrangement being acoustic guitar-driven, this brings the song a light and more intimate feel. The song is powered by the lead vocals' soulful execution of the song, which is fully complemented by a beautiful harmony of multiple vocalists that creates a "communal" sound that makes the song very immersive. It is as if you are actually in the room with them, joining their worship session. With the song centering on the theme of surrender and exchange, the song opens with an imagery of trading "beauty for ashes" and "joy for mourning". This directly speaks of renewal and rebirth, which is a gift from God. The song encourages us not to carry our burdens alone but rather to allow ourselves to surrender and lay ourselves at God's feet. This acceptance of being vulnerable before God prepares us to fully embrace God's awesome love for us. And that his love and mercy offer a safe place for us to dwell in during our times of despair and uncertainty. Even offering one of the most poignant lines in the song that mentions "a grace that will never end despite all my history," highlighting God's unconditional love for us.
This song is an excellent choice for personal reflection or small group worship. It is both musically soothing and spiritually challenging. I highly recommend this song to listen to during this season of Lent.
Background:
Action Church has been in an introductory season of writing and releasing original music for the church—an initiative we call Songs for the House.
Beach House Sessions captures a powerful time of worship in the beach house where these songs were first written. With both acoustic & high-energy arrangements, spontaneous moments, and creative mashups that weave in classic hymns, this project reflects what happens when a room full of people lift their voices together in devotion and praise. It’s raw, vibrant, and filled with the sound of our house singing praises to the One who deserves it all.
Recorded in the Beach House where many of these songs were originally written, this version of “At The Feet” is created to accompany your time with God and we pray it blesses you and draws you closer to him.
Release date: March 27, 2026
