Alysha Kyle - Great Expectation (CCM)

Alysha Kyle starts the new year with a beautiful Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) track called Great Expectation.

Alysha explains: "The beginning of Romans 3 talks about how my unbelief does not weaken God’s faithfulness. Not that I don’t believe he exists but do I trust that he will be faithful even if things don’t look like I think they should? I’ve had to surrender a lot this year and learn how to get desperate for the Lord. This song is very much about what it looks like to find God on my knees and trust that his goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life."

The lyrics:

Vs. 1
Find me here, oh Lord come and find me here
When I’m tired and weary I need you

Vs. 2
Find me here, oh Lord come and find me here
When my world just seems heavy, I need you

Chorus
As I raise my hands in surrender
I wait in great expectation
Cuz I know that you will move
In the midst of my desperation
And I know that despite my unbelief you are faithful
Yes I know that despite my unbelief you are faithful
You are faithful

Vs 3
I find you here, on my knees Lord I find you here
When I trust in your promise, I find you

Bridge
Your goodness, your mercy will follow
Follow me all of my days
So why should I worry, what should I fear
When I know you are here?

'Lonely Dirt Road' by Dax: A Journey to Solitude and God

Dax's 'Lonely Dirt Road' is a conversation that Dax has with himself and God. Dax shares his journey of turning mental health walks into healing solitary drives. As you listen, you can almost feel the cruise, where it's just you, your thoughts, and God.  The chorus is so relatable: 'When I need space, that's where I go, a place to escape that nobody knows.' What do you do when life's pressures stack high? Do you also have a space where you can let go? That lonely dirt road that Dax sings about symbolizes solitude, but it is also an incredible opportunity for connecting with God.  Dax's honesty is raw and relatable. 'I didn't want my family to see me cry… dealing with the pressure of trying to provide.' There are times when we all put on a smile to hide how challenging situations may be. Like his father, Dax says that he finds peace on this lonely road, where challenges become opportunities to grow. This shows the core of our faith: that...

"Change Coming On" by Robert Peterson and The Crusade: Feeling the Shift Towards Hope

Ever feel like life's a bit… frosty? Or that you're longing for something more profound and meaningful in life? Robert Peterson and The Crusade connect with that feeling. In their second release, "Change Coming On," they explore the search for meaning and change. Robert Peterson, who has been playing music since his early teens, has an interesting approach to writing lyrics. He is especially careful that his lyrics do not immediately lead to people labeling the song as "Christian," and tries to avoid classifications like "Christian Rock" so that he can reach a larger audience with his message. People who otherwise would be turned off by overt religious references. "Change Coming On" accomplishes this with subtlety and depth. The song opens with the image of being "all alone on a crowded city street," creating a feeling of isolation and longing. As the song continues, a powerful awareness is building up, "I can feel a chang...
