Tolu! - Sing It Out Loud! Noel! (Christmas)

Tolu! - Sing It Out Loud! Noel!
Tolu! has released a Christian Christmas track called Sing It Out Loud! Noel!

Tolu writes: "I wrote this song at the height of the COVID pandemic. It was the first Christmas after the pandemic hit and there had been so much pain and death and fear and uncertainty, we couldn't gather together, there were less Christmas lights. It didn't feel like Christmas and it didn't feel like there was any reason to celebrate. I remember looking around at the empty streets on my way to work and thinking no, Christmas is more than lights, and parties and gifts and all that. They're all great to have but they are not the substance of Christmas. The real substance of Christmas is Jesus and what His birth means to the world. Joy to the world and peace on earth, and we should declare it and sing it out loud - there is hope because He was born to us."

Lyrics:

Star of wonder, sparkling bright
Lead us to the perfect light
Over hills and plains and fields

'Till this glory is revealed
Shining through the darkness, full of grace and truth
The hope of all creation, bringing forth good news
Of righteousness, of mercy, of everlasting love
Of healing and deliverance, and blessings from above

Angels in your heavenly hosts
Share the news from coast to coast
Salvation's come to all mankind
God and sinners reconciled
For unto us a child is born, Word of God made flesh
The ruler over the nations, His reign will never end
Our God with us Emmanuel! Here with us to dwell
The heir of all creation with power over hell

Sing it out loud! Behold our King and Lord
Sing it out loud! Saviour of the world
Joy to the world and peace on earth! Hail the blessed morn
Sing it out loud! Christ our Messiah is born
Oo-o-oh! He is born! Oo-o-oh

We come bearing gifts, we give you our hearts
We fall on our knees, and we crown you King
We worship and adore you. In one voice to the skies
We declare your glory! Make the heavens ring

Sing it out loud! Behold our King and Lord
Sing it out loud! He's the saviour of the world
Joy to the world and peace on earth! Hail the blessed morn
Sing it out loud! Christ our Messiah is born
Oo-o-oh! He is born! Oo-o-oh

Sing it loud! Sing it loud! (Noel)
Sing it loud! Sing it loud! (Noel)
He's the redemption of the people! (Noel)
The one and only begotten Son! (Noel)
Sing it loud! Sing it loud! (Noel)
Sing it loud! Sing it out loud! (Noel)
Joy to the World and Peace on Earth! Hail the blessed morn
Sign it out loud! Christ our Messiah is born
Sing it out loud! Noel

"Heartbeat" by Laura Leighe - Dancing in Worship

Here's a song that's more or less been stuck in my head since I heard it. It's called 'Heartbeat' by Laura Leighe and is what Laura calls a "reggaeton-influenced Christian pop duet" that's all about surrendering to God's rhythm and dancing in worship, no matter what life throws your way.  The lyrics remind me of two scriptures: "Praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe."  - Psalm 150:4 (NIV) and "Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might."  - 2 Samuel 6:14 (NIV). Maybe I'm a bit prejudiced because the song reminds us of our own thoughts when we founded "Christian Dance" years ago and picked a name. Focusing on music that allows us to feel joy and causes us (our hearts) to dance for God, a pure form of worship that we know is pleasing to God. The lyrics are about surrendering our control and trusting in God's plan. Laura sings, "I bet you f...

'Lonely Dirt Road' by Dax: A Journey to Solitude and God

Dax's 'Lonely Dirt Road' is a conversation that Dax has with himself and God. Dax shares his journey of turning mental health walks into healing solitary drives. As you listen, you can almost feel the cruise, where it's just you, your thoughts, and God.  The chorus is so relatable: 'When I need space, that's where I go, a place to escape that nobody knows.' What do you do when life's pressures stack high? Do you also have a space where you can let go? That lonely dirt road that Dax sings about symbolizes solitude, but it is also an incredible opportunity for connecting with God.  Dax's honesty is raw and relatable. 'I didn't want my family to see me cry… dealing with the pressure of trying to provide.' There are times when we all put on a smile to hide how challenging situations may be. Like his father, Dax says that he finds peace on this lonely road, where challenges become opportunities to grow. This shows the core of our faith: that...

'Whatever It Takes – Acoustic' by Stephen Stanley: Embracing Divine Grace Amid Trial

Stephen Stanley vividly portrays the profound journey of faith in his moving acoustic rendition of the song 'Whatever It Takes'. His sincerity echoes the difficulties of completely surrendering one's heart to God despite being burdened by past mistakes and self-doubt. However, as we all know, the journey to the divine, while difficult, ultimately changes everything. 'Whatever it Takes,' a testament to Stanley's commitment, is a vocal affirmation to live continuously for God. The lyrics touch listeners' hearts as he admits, 'I've been reckless with my heart / Now I'm falling apart'; a message that many can relate to. This bold declaration is followed by a powerful surrender: 'I don't wanna be the same / I need You to be the change / I surrender all I am.' Stanley's song reaches out to everyone who has struggled with their shortcomings and leads them to the comforting presence of God. Self-doubt and the fear of falling may plagu...
