Canyons - Oh, How I Trust You (Album) (CCM)

Canyons - Distant

Canyons have released a Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) album called 'Oh, How I trust You'.

'Distant' and 'River' are two characteristic songs from the album. An album filled with prayers and moments that many will be able to relate to... Moments and situations when we think that we may not deserve Him by our side, and then realize that He is always there.

'Distant' is an attempt to recall the confusion between overwhelming grief and the precious comforts that meet us in the midst of it. Knowing, as if it were a punch in the chest, that He is always there and you really can not miss it. Knowing that you don't need to ask because He is not far away. He is there by your side when you cry out, sing to the sky, and bring on the drama.

What greater comfort can He give us than knowing that all we have to do is lift our eyes to Him and pray? Have total faith in Him and know that He is a magnificent God! No matter how hopeless or desperate your situation appears, it pales in comparison to His power!

'River' is a song about peace, the kind of peace that can be compared to a river that is always flowing... and there will be plenty more to come... waiting to be yours to immerse yourself in. There is a rescue for the wayward, the wounded, and the weary soul. He is reviving us even as we are breaking. Our Healer is Jesus.

'River' was initially written for two of John and Trisha's friends who needed to know that, and ultimately 'River' became a reminder for their own soul...

We enjoy the songs on this album and believe there are more people that can use these beautiful musical reminders to help heal and tune their soul as well. He is an awesome God, deserving of your trust, and no matter how messed up things may seem... He is there for you.

A message from John and Trisha:

"We’ve written these songs for our local community, and from our personal journeys with Jesus. Some were created as a way for our church to sing and remember as we studied different parts of the Bible. Others were written from some of our best conversations, our worst moments, and a need to make music to process. Our crazy-talented musician friends joined us as we shifted these specific prayers and memories into collaborative celebration and grief. While we didn’t write with a theme in mind, the struggle, choice, and potential joy to trust in Jesus emerged as a through-line of the album.
We hope you love it."

"The Perfect Man" by Kaylyn Sahs: Finding the Only One Who Never Fails

(by Jasper Tan) “The Perfect Man” is a very beautiful love song by Kaylyn Sahs. I’ve never heard such a beautiful love song written for Jesus that is very relatable, and that truly defines how it is to be loved. Jesus is the only perfect Man who can fulfill our hearts and complete us. His Love is the only kind of Love that we all should desire to have. A lot of the people out there who are still searching to find love and find the perfect partner that they could spend their life with should listen to this song. The song helps to define the type of person they should be looking for and not settle for anything less, because we truly deserve someone who could love them that is as pure as Jesus.  Kaylyn shares that this song is her personal testimony of finding a love that never fails or walks away. And like most people out there who are still in the process of finding love, Kaylyn has also been there, patiently waiting for the perfect partner to come into her life and complete her, on...

"Man I Used To Be" by Dax: Half the Weight, Double the Faith

"Man I Used To Be" by Dax is a very personal song. Dax had promised himself that he wouldn't release new music until he'd stayed sober for six months, the time he needed to get his priorities straight and clear his mind. "Man I Used To Be" is the sound of his first clean breath, life with God by his side. Dax lays it bare: "Trials and tribulations, all my past trauma," he acknowledges, along with "generational curses from daddy and mama," and the "addictions that clouded my eyes." The honesty about his past struggles makes the message of this song so relatable and powerful.  The chorus is about the moment that the script was flipped, "I'm half the man I used to be." Not a broken man, but a man who has been freed from the burdens that weren't his to carry and kept him from God. "I don't ever chase, I got God," declaring that his new identity is anchored in faith. It's a shrug and a testimo...

"Sometime" by Robert Peterson and The Crusade: God always finds us

(by Jasper Tan) In the tradition of our favorite CCM rock anthems from the 90's and early 2000's (the Jars of Clay and Vertical Horizon come to mind), Robert Peterson and The Crusade's recently released single, called "Sometime," is a joyful experience to listen to. This is a rock song that speaks about waiting and being prepared for the right moment to be called by Jesus. It comes from a place where the miracle and the sudden arrival of God in our lives are always unpredictable. But when we are ready, God will find us. The lyricism of the song is written in such a way that there are double meanings and vague messages. I understand the artistic decision to write this in such a manner. I always believe that evangelism isn't always straightforward, and there is definitely not a one-size-fits-all approach. Sometimes people who have yet to encounter Jesus in their lives may feel resistance and apathy towards the truth of Jesus' love for us, but are open to mes...
