A Journey to Renewal with "ReFormation" by Stephanie Staples

Stephanie Staples has released her tenth studio record, and can be heard on her album 'ReFormation'. The album has three distinct sections.

Stephanie Staples - ReFormationThe theme of the first section of the album is 'Invitation to Return'

This section has two songs that invite all who have been struggling or left the faith to revisit their understanding of truth, rebuild their foundation, and simply come back home.

  • 'Prodigal' addresses our struggles and need for God's love. This song urges us to put aside our pride and return to His grace.

  • 'Reconstruct' adds an extra element. It is about coming back to embrace His love and letting Him heal the wounds of the past and lead us back to faith.

The theme of the second section of the album is 'Call to Awaken'. This section has three songs that call Christians to wake up and remember their calling.

  • 'Something More' is our spiritual wake-up call, an awakening, urging us to stop trying to find security and peace in worldly philosophies, but return to God and build a foundation based on faith.

  • 'Awake, O Sleeper' is a song that encourages us to wake up, get into action, and answer His call. It's an invitation to renew our minds and hearts, see His justice and glory, and to rekindle the Spirit fire in our hearts.

  • 'Anthem' is a song that reminds us that God is always with us, ready to heal us and lead us to victory. It inspires us to boldly declare His holiness and to rejoice in the amazing promise of His infinite goodness.

The theme of the third section of the album is 'Ballads of Hope'. This section has 5 songs, songs that Stephanie has written over the past 26 years. They carry a message of perseverance, encouraging all to hold on and keep the faith at all times.

  • 'Give Me Hope' is a prayer to God for strength, just like the prayer of Hannah and Sarah. God promises that He is always with. He is with us in times of joy, and in times of weakness and loneliness. He is there when we mess up our lives and is ready to guide us back & fill us with hope.

  • 'Holding On' emphasizes that we're not alone, even when it feels as if you're drowning in despair or disappointment. The key message is 'Don't give up!'

  • 'Naive' is about the fact that there always will be challenges and pain, a sober wake up call. This part of the song really nails it: 'I will be not be naive to think the war is over // This is reality sometimes hearts must break // I will be not be naive to think the war is over // This is reality sometimes hearts must break to be set free'

  • 'Still Waters' is a very personal song for Stephanie. A reminder of painful times. Stephanie initially intended this song as balm for her pain, and after some encouragement by others is sharing the song with us. The lyrics describe a journey of hanging onto faith throughout the storms, trusting God's unseen plans, and finding peace in His grace.

  • 'Grace' is another song that emphasizes that we're cradled by our Savior's grace. It reminds us that there isn't a fall in our lives that is too deep for His mercy to heal and renew.

This is such a beautiful collection of inspiring and relatable songs. Songs that support a journey of renewal that will lead us before our Lord and Savior, where we may eagerly await two most precious words: 'Welcome home!'. Enjoy!

Rhett Walker - Man on the Middle Cross (CCM)

Rhett Walker's CCM song, 'Man on the Middle Cross,' is a powerful reflection on the profound impact of God's grace and mercy. The song was inspired by a sermon by Alistair Begg, focusing on the two men crucified alongside Jesus, and the transformative power of Christ's sacrifice. The lyrics vividly describe the scene of three wooden crosses on a hill, with two sinners on either side of Jesus. The first verse expresses the realization that, at times, we all can relate to the sinners on the crosses—feeling guilty, regretful, and undeserving of God's love and forgiveness. The chorus beautifully captures the experience of both sinners, acknowledging that one has been on the left, filled with guilt and regret, while the other has been on the right, always seeking conflict and thinking forgiveness is beyond reach. The overwhelming theme throughout the song is the recognition of God's grace and mercy, which are not earned or deserved but freely given to all. The br...

"What A Worthy Name (Passion Cover)" by Emmanuel Songsore: A Piano Reflection on the Worthiness of Christ

What happens when 45,000 voices unite to proclaim the worthiness of Jesus? That's the scene from Passion 2026 in Arlington, Texas, where the original version of this beautiful song was sung. Originally released in 2017, "What A Worthy Name" is still very popular, continues to stir hearts, and Emmanuel Songsore's instrumental cover of the song captures that same spirit.  You'll love this beautiful piano cover of the song. As always, Emmanuel adds his signature touch to the song, making it easy to drift away in your mind to one of Passion's concerts and sing along.  As you listen to Emmanuel's piano arrangement, may you reflect on these timeless truths. The hands that "turn the universe surrendered to the Cross." Despite the sin that separated us, Jesus "took the fall once and for all." This salvation that can never be earned; it is given to you and me.  When you feel that your hope has "grown too cold to resurrect," may thi...

"Gravity Of Grace" by Carli Lessing: The Pull You Can't Outrun

Can His grace really pull you back when you’ve drifted this far?  Gravity never asks permission. Drop something, anything, and it falls back to earth without effort or argument. Carli Lessing compares gravity with the way that grace works. You don’t fight your way back into God’s reach. He pulls you there.  The lyrics open with a familiar confession: “I don’t need to run away, hiding from the truth.” Running doesn’t hide anything from God anyway. He “sees every last mistake and selfish path I choose,” and despite that, He stays put. Carli admits she still catches herself trying to earn what God already gave away. That instinct runs deep in all of us. We dress up our effort and call it faith, all while missing the actual gift that is sitting in front of us.  Look at Ephesians 2:8–9: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”   Grace isn’t a result of our wo...
