"Overthinker" by Maria Segerholm - Finding Peace in Turbulent Times

Maria Segerholm's 'Overthinker' is more than just a song. It's about anxiety and finding peace in God's presence. Last fall, Maria suffered a stroke at the age of 34. It was an unusual type of stroke called CVT. Finding and treating it early is key, and she felt that God was leading her to get help in time. Maria was hospitalized for a week, and given the circumstances, she's doing well and praising God through it.

Maria Segerholm - OverthinkerMaria shares: "During this time of recovery, God has been placing new song ideas in my heart, and I felt urged to release them. "Overthinker" is the first song of my upcoming EP called "Praise through Trials". The idea for "Overthinker", actually came to me when I was doing an MRI-scan of my brain 3 months post-stroke. I had felt so much peace during my hospital stay and during my time of recovery, but during the long MRI-scan worry began to creep in." Maria reminded herself of God's peace. She continues, "as a songwriter, I naturally started to write a song within my mind."

The song blends R&B, soul, and jazz influences, creating a unique sound. She co-wrote the song with Tom Taylor. Lyrically, it focuses on renewing the mind, and that is a part of the chorus as well as the bridge, with scripture drawn from Romans 12:2 and 2 Corinthians 10:5. Maria shares: "'Overthinker' is a fun contrast to our previous song ("From the Ashes") musically."

As Maria asks, "Why do I overthink, when You take care of me?" and "Why am I worrying, when You give me Your peace?" Her questions could have easily been our own. This song invites us to draw closer to God, where ultimate peace is found. Go ahead and give 'Overthinker' a listen.

(Related scripture: Romans 12:2; 2 Corinthians 10:5; Philippians 4:6-7)

"Is Anybody There? (Psalm 27)" by Stephen M. Miller: Holding On to Grace at Heaven’s Door

Stephen M. Miller's "Is Anybody There? (Psalm 27)" comes in the quiet aftermath of the Christmas celebrations, when reflection can feel like isolation. Stephen's song isn't about polishing away his mistakes, nor does it encourage you to do so with your mistakes. Stephen shares his painful experience, "I never saw it coming Lord // It felt right but it was wrong // Family and friends have left me // But I still have you and a song."   Stephen owns the fallout of his actions, taking accountability without despair. "I said it and I did it, Lord // Broke more hearts than I'll ever know // I can't fix this, though I've tried // Don't be angry, and please don't go." His song is a prayer for God's presence and guidance. "Hear me when I call you, Lord // Don't turn your face away // Don't give up on me like others have // Come help me through this day." Stephen describes a fear that we too experience when we ...

This contemporary Christian music (CCM) masterpiece assures listeners of the stunning grace of God, reminding us that the same power that conquered the grave resides within us. Opening the hymn with words brimming with poignant candor— 'I shouldn't be alive...But I'm a miracle child' —Lake underscores the transformative power of God's love. His soulful rendition paints an animated narrative, celebrating life's delivery from the brink through divine intervention. Death, he boldly challenges, hasn't claimed its victory over his life because 'My savior's word is final / I am resurrected / Blood protected / I am a miracle child.' "Nothing Can Separate Us" by Divine Vibes: A Melodic House Drop Inspired By Romans 8

What if the one thing you've been searching for was by your side all the time? That's the question that Divine Vibes answers in his latest track "Nothing Can Separate Us." This track is a dance-pop and melodic-house collaboration with the Mexican artist Bervmen. The lyrics are based on Romans 8:38–39, and this production turns the scripture passage into a powerful and danceable anthem. Like always, the message of Divine Vibes is beautifully direct. You'll hear how the lyrics build on the previous line and dismantle every fear that could make you believe that God's love has limits. It doesn't, it can't, and this song makes that perfectly clear. What makes this track stand out is how Divine Vibes and Bervman deliver their message. You'll hear soaring vocals in a melodic house production that celebrates the joy found in the promises of R...
