"Psalm 4 (Answer Me)" by Red Letter Society ft. Jordan West: A Cry Turned Into Worship

Red Letter Society featuring Jordan West - Psalm 4 (Answer Me)

Ever felt like God's far away, not listening, while you're drowning in shame or lies? That's what this next installment in Red Letter Society and Jordan West's Psalms project is about. This song captures the desperate cry of Psalm 4 as the psalmist pleads for God to just give him an answer. Can you imagine the pain and loneliness that is felt when life is heavy and your name is under attack? The psalmist shows us that instead of staying stuck in despair, it is better and more constructive to move on to trust.

The lyrics don't shy away from the real struggle that we are often experiencing: "Evil, how long will you cast shame…" Our seemingly endless struggle with shame! It's a cry we've most likely all felt, and that struggle seems to come back time and time again. However, even in that time of shame, we still have a choice to turn the situation into silence, reflection, and sacrifice. The bridge reminds us that when doubt creeps in, God meets us there: "When I wondered if you are good you pierced the dark where I stood You've always given joy to me." And when this struggle is over? Peace wins. "In peace I lie and sleep secure, You alone, O Lord, will ensure That I will dwell within Your care, that you hear my prayer."

Psalm 4 brings so much comfort to anyone who is looking for hope in the middle of the chaos that they are facing. May this song remind you that God always hears your cries, even the quiet ones.

"Hiding Place (Live)" by DBU Chapel Worship: Forgiven, Covered, and Free

How often do you hear worship songs being sung live in the comforts of your day-to-day living? For sure, there are a dime a dozen. Some you commonly share with the person next to you, featuring songs by popular Christian Artists. But there's a certain form of unique sincerity when one discovers a worship song that is yet to break through to a larger audience. This is how the song "Hiding Place" by DBU Chapel Worship featuring Olivia-Grace McKern felt like when I first listened to the song. It felt like a new testimony being told, of one's dedication to find God and remain in his presence.  Taking root from Psalm 32, the song is a collaboration of Olivia with a host of songwriters from the DBU Chapel Worship. Enriching her experience as a songwriter and moving her through the songwriting process. In perhaps a reflection of what the song eventually became, it wasn't so that Olivia conveniently hid behind the DBU Chapel Worship songwriters/musicians. This song is a c...

'Lonely Dirt Road' by Dax: A Journey to Solitude and God

Dax's 'Lonely Dirt Road' is a conversation that Dax has with himself and God. Dax shares his journey of turning mental health walks into healing solitary drives. As you listen, you can almost feel the cruise, where it's just you, your thoughts, and God.  The chorus is so relatable: 'When I need space, that's where I go, a place to escape that nobody knows.' What do you do when life's pressures stack high? Do you also have a space where you can let go? That lonely dirt road that Dax sings about symbolizes solitude, but it is also an incredible opportunity for connecting with God.  Dax's honesty is raw and relatable. 'I didn't want my family to see me cry… dealing with the pressure of trying to provide.' There are times when we all put on a smile to hide how challenging situations may be. Like his father, Dax says that he finds peace on this lonely road, where challenges become opportunities to grow. This shows the core of our faith: that...
