"Be Strong in the Lord" by Gresha Schuilling: Victory Begins in Your Mind


What happens when your mind becomes the battlefield?

Night & valleys bring their own kind of noise. Fear whispers, doubt shouts, and a hundred voices compete for space in your head. That noise also manages to spread its way into other parts of our lives. That struggle is the theme of Gresha Schuilling's song “Be Strong in the Lord.” The lyrics describe a battle that starts long before our circumstances change: “The battle first was won within // Before the light broke through.” Real victory begins in the mind, not in the moment things finally look better.

While our mind is often capable of balancing external data and placing it in a healthier context, our own thoughts seem to easily bypass that balancing mechanism. Our thoughts grow loud, our fears grow louder, and we need something powerful to interrupt that cycle. We ask God to guide us and bless us with truth. “Your Word grew stronger than our thoughts // As truth took deeper ground.” Truth doesn’t ask permission to enter, and it displaces what doesn’t belong. Truth isn’t just a shield against external influences, but also works to keep our own thoughts in check. That’s the promise Paul makes in Ephesians 6:10: “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.” Not your strength. His.

Why does that distinction matter so much? Because our own strength runs out, and we can be misled. His strength doesn’t run out, and He can’t be fooled. When Scripture takes root in your mind, thought by thought, the outside noise starts losing its grip on us and our lives. We can take every anxious thought captive and place it in His light, right here and now, starting today. Rely on God’s strength and direction to speak truth over the lies before they speak to your heart and mind. Fix your eyes on what God has promised, the way Abraham once did, staring up at a sky full of stars he couldn’t yet explain.

May the message of this song play back in your mind today, and help you to open your mind and let victory come to life. “Be strong in the Lord // We have the mind of Christ.”

"Ebenezer" by David Dowdell: Faithful Before, Faithful Now, Faithful Forever

"Impossible Is Possible" by Noah Samuel: Ten Years In the Making, One Moment of Proof
