A declaration of consistent devotion and faithfulness to God
(by Jasper Tan) Chrystal Williams-Alberty’s “I Love to Praise Your Name” is a beautiful and heartfelt contemporary praise and worship song. The song focuses on our devotion and adoration to our God. The lyrics are simple but deep in expression. Reminding us that to worship God is a lifelong commitment, and we should always give our gratitude and faithfulness to our loving God.
The song shares a message that is similar to Psalm 34:1 — “I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Chrystal came up with the song from her own personal experiences where she wants to praise God even in her most difficult times. This shows us that praising God isn’t just when things are going our way, but even in the most trying times; our devotion and faithfulness to him must remain constant. This is what makes this song beautiful because it came from a place of sincerity and raw honesty.
Chrystal shows her unwavering devotion from the beginning with the lyrics reflecting a promise to sing praises “as long as I live” (0:05). This establishes early on the theme of consistent, lifelong worship. With God as an “Everlasting Father” (0:12) full of mercy, a “God of wonders” (0:29), and a protector who “never forsake[s] the righteous” during times of trouble (0:49–0:54). She reminds us of the nature of God that some of us might have already forgotten when we are being subjected to life’s difficult challenges.
But God is always our one true salvation and the forgiver of our sins (1:01–1:03); He renews us from our brokenness and serves as our spiritual refuge where we can find comfort and solace if we can build a consistent personal relationship with Him. “Oh oh I love to praise your name.”

Background:
I wanted to share some background and thoughts about my new song release that might help as you write about it.
I wrote this song from a very personal place, wanting it to feel like a modern psalm—something raw, honest, and filled with praise no matter the circumstances. The lyrics are my declaration to keep praising God continuously, inspired by verses like Psalm 34:1 (“I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth”).
The timing of this song’s completion was very significant for me. On the very day I heard the finished track for the first time, I had just lost my car and found out I would need surgery soon. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, the song uplifted me deeply. I actually began to cry, overwhelmed by God’s mercy and presence, and I felt even more persuaded to praise Him regardless of the challenges I face. It’s a reminder that God is our everlasting Father, full of mercy, and that our praise is powerful and meaningful in all circumstances.
A few fun facts: the song is structured to echo the heartfelt cries and praises found in the Psalms, weaving themes of worship, surrender, and celebration of God’s holiness and love. The chorus, with “Glory glory hallelujah, God of wonders most high,” is meant to be a bold, joyful proclamation of who God is—our King, Savior, and loving Father.
What I want listeners to remember most is that praising God is not just for the good times, but it’s an expression of trust and love that transcends our trials. I hope it encourages others to lift their voices and worship with all their breath, no matter what life brings.
