What if you truly meant “consume me” today? “Consume Me” by Chad Jackson poses a question that stops you in your tracks… Instead of just saying or singing “consume me”, what if we really meant it? Not the polite version of surrender, not the Sunday-morning version we recite out of habit or sing because it’s part of a song’s lyrics. What if we meant it for real? Chad Jackson built his song around a simple confession —  “I give my all, my everything, I need You more each day”  — and that line does something. It strips away the performance and asks for total honesty instead.  The first verse of the song emphasizes that God notices everything: “there’s never a broken heart that you don’t see,” “never a tear that falls that you don’t keep.” That kind of attention changes how you approach Him. Some people wait at the edge of faith for years, arms crossed, waiting to feel ready. “Just Believe” was written by For Him for exactly that person — the one who wants to trust Jesus but still carries a list of questions. Gritty Southern-rock guitars carry lyrics that ask a two-thousand-year-old question: “Could Love have worn a human face?” The answer to that question brings purpose and comfort to our lives. Sorrow and joy can share the same room. “I’ve Got Joy” by Tyler Philip Ratcliffe was triggered by a telephone call. Tyler reconnected with an old friend who’d been going through a period of loneliness. Tyler shares: “We talked at length about the season of loneliness he was experiencing, and we discussed a few other topics that are reflected in the verses.” This triggered Tyler to tackle this concept of having Joy, and it became clear that “I’ve Got Joy” isn’t the same as “I’ve Got Happiness” . Joy is more than happiness, and it certainly isn’t a painted-on smile. Tyler makes that distinction on purpose, because he’s writing about the nights he spent “down to my last prayer,” and about sitting “in a room full of people” while feeling completely invisible. He’s writing about all of the kneeling and “begging for the answer to a question I can’t speak.” That’s real, and that’s most of us, on our worst weeks. The chorus takes us back to “joy”. Ever felt too far gone for a fresh start? Some seasons of life can feel like you’re standing in a pile of ash where a fire used to be. Angelica Smith knew that feeling well before she wrote her song: “All To Jesus”. She describes being “a wreck, a mess,” carrying sin and shame so heavy it left her feeling like “dry bones” and a “heart of stone.” Sound familiar? New purpose doesn’t ask permission — it arrives. You’ve tried to fix yourself before, we all have. Maybe you tried to white-knuckle your way out of a bad habit or promised yourself (again) that this time it would be different. Shoshan Dunamis knows that feeling. She describes the Holy Spirit as intoxicating, alive, exhilarating — and the song carries that energy. “It feels like a rush of energy has been released from You and is now flowing through me,” she sings. Like the prophet Jeremiah, who described God’s word as “fire in my bones,” she found something she simply could not contain or walk away from. The question that Gresha Shuilling asks with her song “Life Overflow” is how that aligns with what God wants. The song opens with someone who is lingering beneath the weight of a life that never asked for more. Then comes the change: “Then You opened up a future // Far beyond what I had known.” Gresha sings about heaven opening wide, about a river she could never control that carries her forward. Notice the phrase she returns to again and again: “You didn’t save me small.” Salvation, in Gresha’s song, isn’t a narrow escape. It’s an explosion of mercy without limits.
