What if your giving is meant to multiply?  A farmer never plants his last seed. He knows the harvest depends on what he’s willing to release into the ground. Gresha Schuilling captures that picture in “Seed to the Sower,” singing, “I won’t hold what You intended // To be planted when I sow.” God doesn’t just meet our needs. He hands us seed with a purpose attached to it. What we do with that seed determines whether it multiplies or sits untouched in a drawer.  The apostle Paul writes about this principle in 2 Corinthians 9:10–11: “He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way.”   Notice the order here. God supplies first. He multiplies second. What if nothing you chase can truly fill the emptiness?  Emptiness has a way of following you around, no matter how fast you run. You chase a feeling (or things you believe will get you higher up “the ladder”), land on it for a moment, and then watch it slip through your fingers again. Joel Lane captures that feeling of restlessness in the opening lines of his song “Come Alive”: “Emptiness, chasing a feeling, trying to fill the void inside.” Sound familiar? Most of us have spent years searching for a purpose that felt just out of our reach.  Joel sings about how something happened that put everything in a different perspective. “You opened my eyes, now I see the light, I’m never going back.” That’s not a small statement. What do you do when fear feels bigger? Loneliness has a way of making darkness feel even darker. “Why Would I Fear?” by Die Taube was written during a season that was marked by loss of community, loneliness, uncertainty, and difficult personal circumstances. Psalm 91 and 23 became an anchor in the middle of that season, a reminder that God stays close when everything else falls away.  The song opens with: “My heart, my mind, my soul has a sacred place where I go, ’cause I know Your help is a prayer away”. Instead of drowning in worry, the singer asks, “So why would I fear? Out of Your love You run to me.” That question isn’t rhetorical fluff. It’s a reminder that God’s protection is just a prayer away.  Psalm 91:4–5 (ESV) says that, “He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler.” Notice the specifics. What battle are you really fighting today?   Some enemies wear a smile. Kristin Ambuhl calls this out in her song “Set Free”. The song calls these enemies a “favorite shadow” who’s “throwin’ words like daggers” while “hiding behind your laughter.” This is much more than a person who is being difficult. Kristin wrote this song about the daily spiritual battles we face as believers — battles found in arrogant people, dark influences, and forces that work to pull us away from who God made us to be. Whether it’s small fights or big ones, she’s naming them all.  The song doesn’t stay stuck in the shadows. Kristin declares, “I’ve been set apart, I’ve been set free, from my enemies, against dark powers, rulers, and authorities.” Part of that line echoes Ephesians 6:12: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” W...

None of us are without blame — so why act like we are? “Throw the Stones Away” by Chace Skelton is about all of the name-calling, accusations, and strangers tearing each other apart over things that won’t matter by tomorrow. Just scroll through the comments on your social media, and you’ll quickly see how ugly humanity can get! Chace Skelton watched this play out on Facebook one too many times, and it broke something open in him. Not anger — recognition. He saw Christians, people who claim to follow Grace, throwing stones at each other with the same ease as anyone else. Ouch! That image stuck and pulled him straight to John 8, not to pass judgment, but to be reminded of what Jesus did. John 8 talks about a woman who is accused, and a crowd is ready to condemn her. Jesus doesn’t defend her sin. He does something that has a larger impact. He turns the question back on the accusers and said: “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” One sentence, and t...

Faithfulness isn’t about the amount — it’s about who’s watching. “Found Faithful” by Gresha Schuilling begins with how faithfulness is measured according to God’s economy. Both the servant who does well with five thousand and the servant who does well with fifty are measured the same way in God’s economy. That’s the lesson that Jesus teaches us in the parable of the ten minas — a nobleman leaves money with his servants and returns to settle accounts, rewarding the ones who multiplied what little they’d been given. “Found Faithful” echoes that same logic: “I’ll take care of what seems little, be trustworthy when there’s more.” Gresha isn’t waiting for abundance to prove loyalty. She emphasizes that the test is happening now, in whatever’s already in hand, the everyday things in life. Increase has a way of exposing what we actually love. “Increase can test my motives, and prove what matters most to me” . Is believing in nothing really the safer bet? “Psalm 14 (The Fool)” by Red Letter Society and Jordan West is part of an ongoing project to write through all 150 Psalms. This song lands on a hard truth: “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’” That’s not a gentle hint but a full problem statement. The song doesn’t stop at naming the problem, though. It sits with the pain of a world where, as the lyrics put it, “there is no one who does good,” and then it turns a corner that most of us are desperate for. Look at what happens next in the lyrics. The chorus doesn’t wallow. It commands: “Open your eyes, behold the ways of God and become wise.” That’s an invitation for right now, no delay! Fear doesn’t get the final word either —  “fear not their plans” , cutting through the noise of a culture that often rewards cynicism over faith.
