"Lord of Life" - KINN: Tuning Into God’s Frequency

"Lord of Life" by KINN is a modern-day hymn, a debut single, penned by three family members—Dorry, Ollie, and Mim. The song is a reminder to look for God's presence, even when the world around us feels quite overwhelming. The lyrics beautifully capture the struggle that is so familiar for most—feeling lost in the middle of this endless stream of distractions and digital noise that hits us from almost every direction. 'Almost'… because there is a direction that replaces the chaos with peace.

KINN - Lord of LifeThe lyrics highlight these sources of noise, "All the screens lighting our digital lives / It's so hard to hear when you speak," and how easy it is to get disconnected from God's voice in the hustle.

The song reassures us that this disconnect can be fixed because He isn't far away. "Through the noise, tune to the frequency where your spirit reaches me," an encouragement to quiet down and listen closely for His whisper—a call to reconnect with Him. The repeated lyric, "Tune me in to all that you're offering," reminds me of the older generation radios, with a dial that is used to tune into the desired station. He fine-tunes us when we desire to fully embrace His peace and guidance, much like a dial on the radio that needs to be adjusted with gentle nudges until the source can be heard clearly. Jesus wants to help you with the fine-tuning, but only you can let Him in. He is never silent, even if we fail to notice Him at times. So when His voice isn't coming through that clearly, let Him help you to clear out the noise and hear His whisper.

May this song serve as both a prayer and an invitation to find your rest in God's constant presence. And when you feel drowned out by life's noise, may this song remind you that He's nearby, never silent, and encourage you to let Him tune you in to all the things that He's offering.

"Thankful" by Lowen: The Practice of Being Thankful

Lowen's "Thankful" isn't one of those typical feel-good gratitude songs. Life is good most of the time… and even when it hurts, there's often something quietly waiting inside the pain, like a lesson, a softening, or a deeper understanding. Lowen found inspiration for this song in what Stephen Colbert once said, "… he learned to love the thing he most wished had never happened, and that simply being here is a gift. Gratitude means holding all of it, not just the easy parts."   The lyrics open with a warm anchor: "Every day that I wake, I just feel so thankful." We're encouraged not to flinch from the messy middle. This is not about ignoring life's quakes! Lowen admits, "honesty is telling me I need space" when the world feels unsteady. In other words, the gratitude that Lowen sings about isn't about forcing a smile through pain — it's about meeting every moment (including the hard moments) with presence, care, and res...

"Your Love" by Kevin Winebarger - When Mercy Becomes Your Identity

Kevin Winebarger teamed up with Joshua Frerichs and Benji Cowart to create this beautiful song. "Your Love" tackles that discouraging voice we all hear from time to time, the one that whispers that we're not enough and that we are defined by our past. "Once a liar, always a liar," and all kinds of variations along this same line of thought. This song isn't about wallowing in shame. "Your Love" is a celebration of the grace that changes everything.  The opening lines hit hard: "I could believe that I'm not enough // It's clear to see I don't measure up." Yep, we've all been there! But this isn't how God want us to be defined… He loved us first! "It's just what You've done // Because of Your love." That's the heart of everything.  Kevin places the change the God brings into perspective, "I could believe that my mistakes // Will follow me down into the grave // But I'm not who I was....
