"Yahweh (Nothing Compares)" by Alex Young And Friends: Honoring the Creator of All Things

"Yahweh (Nothing Compares)" by Alex Young And Friends is a reminder of who God truly is - Creator, Sustainer, and King over all. Alex Young is a Christian singer-songwriter from Atlanta, GA, USA. He shares that this song began as a simple idea from one of his music students during a lesson. They worked on it together, and the result was so good that Alex had to record and release it.

Alex Young And Friends - Yahweh (Nothing Compares)The lyrics take us back to the beginning: "You spoke the heavens into existence // They shout Your glory through starstruck skies." A familiar scene from Genesis 1. Then there's the poetic imagery of man created out of dust and watching life itself being woven together: "You sew the threads of life together and You fill us with Your breath." All of science put together can do amazing things, but nothing compares to our God. That realization invites us into a moment of reverence and gratitude.

No one and nothing can rival Yahweh's majesty. "Yours is the kingdom, Yours is the power // Yours is the glory, now and forever." God is almighty, powerful, creator, and deliverer! And in His majesty, He constantly emphasizes His plan for us and the place He has prepared. It's impossible not to feel small and, at the same time, deeply loved.

(Related scripture: Genesis 1:1-2; Psalm 19:1-2; Isaiah 43:7)

"Hiding Place (Live)" by DBU Chapel Worship: Forgiven, Covered, and Free

How often do you hear worship songs being sung live in the comforts of your day-to-day living? For sure, there are a dime a dozen. Some you commonly share with the person next to you, featuring songs by popular Christian Artists. But there's a certain form of unique sincerity when one discovers a worship song that is yet to break through to a larger audience. This is how the song "Hiding Place" by DBU Chapel Worship featuring Olivia-Grace McKern felt like when I first listened to the song. It felt like a new testimony being told, of one's dedication to find God and remain in his presence.  Taking root from Psalm 32, the song is a collaboration of Olivia with a host of songwriters from the DBU Chapel Worship. Enriching her experience as a songwriter and moving her through the songwriting process. In perhaps a reflection of what the song eventually became, it wasn't so that Olivia conveniently hid behind the DBU Chapel Worship songwriters/musicians. This song is a c...

'Lonely Dirt Road' by Dax: A Journey to Solitude and God

Dax's 'Lonely Dirt Road' is a conversation that Dax has with himself and God. Dax shares his journey of turning mental health walks into healing solitary drives. As you listen, you can almost feel the cruise, where it's just you, your thoughts, and God.  The chorus is so relatable: 'When I need space, that's where I go, a place to escape that nobody knows.' What do you do when life's pressures stack high? Do you also have a space where you can let go? That lonely dirt road that Dax sings about symbolizes solitude, but it is also an incredible opportunity for connecting with God.  Dax's honesty is raw and relatable. 'I didn't want my family to see me cry… dealing with the pressure of trying to provide.' There are times when we all put on a smile to hide how challenging situations may be. Like his father, Dax says that he finds peace on this lonely road, where challenges become opportunities to grow. This shows the core of our faith: that...
