"Trust in the Lord" by Michael Encarnacion: A Song for the Brokenhearted

"Trust in the Lord" by Michael Encarnacion feels like a warm embrace during some of life's raging storms. The song was written on Memorial Day 2024, Michael shares: "I was casually scrolling through Facebook and found a chord progression for a John Legend song. I stopped scrolling to go to my Logic Pro DAW, where I began playing the chord progression. Started mumbling some random lyric and melody, which began to gradually form into a verse. I've never been in a co-writing session, but I could feel the spirit of God moving through my thoughts."

Michael Encarnacion - Trust in the LordThe outcome is a song for anyone who finds themselves wrestling with doubt or loneliness. "When you feel alone, // And hope is nowhere near," an all-too-familiar feeling when we're disconnected from God, and the chorus describes the solution: "Put your trust in the Lord, // He'll never let you down." A solution that may seem easier said than done, but the fact is that He is always present, even when it feels as if our prayers go unanswered. While listening to this part of the song, I'm reminded of the following scripture: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5–6)

This passage in Proverbs also leads us into the message of the second verse: "God will work things out, // So don't you be afraid." God isn't asking you to pretend that pain doesn't exist! It all boils down to choosing to believe that His promises are "true" and that His love is "everlasting." The lyrics show us how faith, even in brokenness, paves the way for redemption.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." — Psalm 34:18, and this song is a great reminder of this precious promise. May this song remind you that trusting God isn't about having all of the answers - it's about accepting and following His guidance, one step at a time.

Riley Clemmons has released a Christian Contemporary Music (CCM) track called Stuck Inside My Head - Single Mix. The song 'Inside My Head' was born out of a season of pain and healing. As a result, the song has a way of speaking about life's difficulties that is accessible and relatable to everyone.  "As I was writing and dreaming up this record, "says Riley, "there was never a plan to create anything but honest music, born from hurting, growing, and healing. I collected songs for this body of work much like I collected every experience I found myself in the middle of over the past couple of years... the highs & lows, the conversations with God, the questions about my identity, the heartbreak, and the healing." Although the music addresses life's hurts, it does much more than that. The trials of life, according to Clemmons, are ordained by God so we can draw close to him. "The thread that began to connect them all quickly became the idea tha...
