"Unfiltered" by Rachael Mann: Coming Before God Without Masks


"Unfiltered" by Rachael Mann is about being authentic, dropping your mask when you come before God. "Come as you are!" Produced by Dove Award winner Nathan Walters, this song gets right into what this means, "Ready or not this is me // Stepping out of the shadows they are hiding me." With God, we don't need to pretend. "I've been running for so long // I'm tired of pretending I'm so strong."

We tend to try to hide behind the walls that we built for protection, hiding parts of us, but these walls won't last forever: "These very walls that I've built to protect me / Are starting to fall." 

If we listen, we will hear His voice, "calling out to me // Saying I am enough." He gives us the strength and guidance to press "… through the voices, tearing down the shame // This is who I am." He helps us with our fight to embrace truth over fear. The bridge of the song emphasizes the confidence He gives us to do this: "No one can tell me who I'm supposed to be // No one can take away my victory." Rachael reminds us we're "cherished, wanted, loved," just as we are. 

May this song help you to live unapologetically in His love. If you're ready to let go of shame, then let God help you. In Him you will learn to see that you are wonderfully made!

Kevin Winebarger teamed up with Joshua Frerichs and Benji Cowart to create this beautiful song. "Your Love" tackles that discouraging voice we all hear from time to time, the one that whispers that we're not enough and that we are defined by our past.
