"I Will Dance" by Arnex: Praise Was Never Meant to Sit Still

A piano riff started it all. A choir leader lost in the words of a song, feeling something shift in his spirit. That’s how “I Will Dance” by Arnex began, long before Emmanuel Smith came on board. Arnex met Emmanuel Smith, who was ministering at their youth event, and something clicked instantly. Arnex shares: “I was immediately struck by how genuinely down-to-earth, warm, and authentic he is. I connected with him instantly.” What came out of that connection wasn’t polished or restrained. It’s a song that carries the same wild-hearted energy that King David had when he danced before the Lord, unbothered by who was watching. “I will dance like David danced,” the lyrics declare, again and again, building into a praise that refuses to sit still.

Background:

The seed for "I Will Dance" was planted while serving as a choir leader at my church “Winners Chapel”. I started playing on the piano and got so deep in the spirit and words of the songs. That was the beginning. Further down the line, I met Emmanuel Smith, who was ministering at our youth event. Beyond his incredible vocal talent, I was immediately struck by how genuinely down-to-earth, warm, and authentic he is. I connected with him instantly.

I had been working on a song that captured the raw, uninhibited joy of praising God inspired by how King David famously danced without caring what anyone else thought. When I approached Emmanuel with the track, he loved the song and the energy of it. Not long after, we went into the studio, and "I Will Dance" was born.

The Message: What I Want Listeners to Take Away

I want this song to be an active, physical release of joy. In life, we carry so many heavy burdens, but when we step into praise, those chains break. I want listeners to remember:

* Praise is active: It’s not just something we listen to; it’s something we actively participate in.

* Freedom in worship: Like David, we shouldn't hold back. Whether you are jumping, clapping, or screaming for joy, there is absolute liberation in celebrating God's goodness.

The Youth Connection: The collaboration only happened because of a chance meeting at a youth ministry event, proving that the best partnerships happen organically.

Made for the Crowd: The call-and-response bridge ("I will jump, I will clap, I will scream") was specifically designed to get congregations and crowds moving in live settings. We wanted to make sure the listener couldn't just sit still!

Pure Studio Energy: The energetic clapping and vocal builds in the final master were captured live in the studio to keep the atmosphere as authentic, raw, and communal as possible.
