"The Good" by Jensen & Company: A Heartbeat In Me And You

Jensen & Company - The Good

Can His goodness hold you when you stumble?

Picture the wind that picks up, the sun dropping below the horizon, and a darkness that creeps into every corner. That’s the opening image of “The Good” by Jensen & Company, a picture of ordinary life. Heidi Jensen North wrote this song to capture something rare: angelic intervention and the hearts of everyday people working together to bring even more love and compassion into the world! You don’t need wings to do that. You just need to show up.

The chorus repeats: “God is the good — the light the way.” That’s not a general idea or a theory. It’s a heartbeat. Heidi sings, He’s “the heart that beats in me and you.” That makes it personal, and it’s something that we can use daily to make the world around us a better place.

The song connects directly to Psalm 34:8: “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!” Tasting means experiencing, not just believing from a distance. Have you tasted His goodness this week, or did you just hear about it secondhand? What can you do today to taste His goodness?

Life will still bring valleys, and rivers will still rage. But look at what the song shares: “we may stumble, but never break, if His love is the road we take.” Stumbling isn’t failure — it’s proof that you’re still walking. That’s the road to choose today. Let His goodness meet you in the ordinary moments, the tired mornings, the uncertain nights.

Give “The Good” a listen and let it remind you who’s holding the flow of every river, every peak, and every breath you take. “God is the good in everything.”

(Related scripture: Psalm 34:8; Lamentations 3:22-23; Psalm 46:1)

"Take the Wheel" by Bonnie Jean Bailey: Why Surrender Feels So Hard

What are you still holding on to instead of giving it to God?  Three in the morning has a way of exposing what we’ve been avoiding all day. Bonnie Jean Bailey knows that hour well. In her song “Take the Wheel,” she sings about the tossing and turning, being “sick and tired of all this worrying,” and bags so heavy they threaten to burst. Can you picture that? Most of us carry something similar. Possibly we don’t call it a levy as Bonnie does, but the burden isn’t less.  Bonnie points out a pattern that we need to be aware of… “Every time I try to hand it over, I take it back cuz I need control of everything.” Does this sound familiar? We pray about something that is worrying us, feel a moment of relief, and then quietly pick up the burden again an hour or so later.  Bonnie isn’t preaching from a distance here. She’s describing her own tug-of-war between fear and faith. And to be honest, that could also be my tug-of-war that she is describing. Is it also your tug-of-war a...

"Your Love" by Kevin Winebarger - When Mercy Becomes Your Identity

Kevin Winebarger teamed up with Joshua Frerichs and Benji Cowart to create this beautiful song. "Your Love" tackles that discouraging voice we all hear from time to time, the one that whispers that we're not enough and that we are defined by our past. "Once a liar, always a liar," and all kinds of variations along this same line of thought. This song isn't about wallowing in shame. "Your Love" is a celebration of the grace that changes everything.  The opening lines hit hard: "I could believe that I'm not enough // It's clear to see I don't measure up." Yep, we've all been there! But this isn't how God want us to be defined… He loved us first! "It's just what You've done // Because of Your love." That's the heart of everything.  Kevin places the change the God brings into perspective, "I could believe that my mistakes // Will follow me down into the grave // But I'm not who I was....

"No One Like You Jesus" by Morgan Starner: Why Only Jesus Can Carry Your Burdens

Who really deserves your loudest praise? “No One Like You Jesus” by Morgan Starner didn’t start in a studio. It started as a voice memo, hummed late at night, half-formed and unfinished. Morgan took that fragile melody into the studio and built it up, layer by layer, until it held over 100 stacked vocals. The result sounds like a celebration. Bright, rhythmic, and impossible to sit still while listening. That’s the point of this song… Gospel-pop with a modern pulse, made to move bodies and hearts at the same time.  Listen to the bridge, and you’ll hear a question underneath the beat: “Who else gonna take my burdens? Who else gonna get me through?” Morgan answers the question without hesitation. “No one else but You.”   Scripture asks the same question, thousands of years earlier. Here is how Moses responded after crossing the Red Sea: “Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?” (Exodus 15:11, ESV...
