Ask for eyes to see His presence daily
Growing up means more than aging. Something changes when the faith you were handed becomes faith you’re actually living. Maybe your parents were right about that one thing. Maybe character does outweigh talent. Or maybe you meet Jesus for yourself and all of a sudden it isn’t a borrowed belief anymore — it’s now yours.
“What I’ve Been Believing” by Ash Wiseman is about that change. The song isn’t a call to remove the rose-colored glasses, but to finally put them on. The world spins fast, and the stress & chaos around us fogs the mind. “My mind is clouded now // And I wish I could remember You’re right here,” Ash admits. Who hasn’t felt that fog? The song asks a bold question: What if God has been present all along, in the passenger seat, in the friend who texted at just the right moment, in the door that closed to protect you? What colors are you missing?
In 2 Kings 6:17 we read how Elisha prays for his frightened servant: “Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” The servant couldn’t see the armies of angels surrounding him — not because they weren’t there, but because his eyes weren’t opened yet.
Your circumstances work in the same manner. God doesn’t hide from you. It’s all of the distractions that hide Him from you. Stress narrows your vision until only problems fill your view. Try this today: take a short break every hour and ask yourself, “Where are You in this moment?” Watch what surfaces.
Give this song a listen. May it encourage you to ask God to “give me eyes to see what I’ve been believing.”

Background:
This song is like seeing through a pair of rose colored glasses! When we grow up, it feels like there is a pivotal moment where the things you’ve believed become your own. Not just because it is what you’ve been told or have learned, but because you start to experience the merit in what you believe. Maybe you realize your parents were right about that thing they taught you, or character really does matter more than talent, or maybe you have a personal encounter with Jesus and you finally know it’s real. This song is a prayer to see the places God is present and working more clearly. We’re not talking take off the rose colored glasses, we’re saying put on the rose color glasses because you’ve been missing so much! See things things through His eyes. What more am I missing out on by being distracted by stress, difficulties, and the world. What colors could be revealed if I just had the eyes to see what I’ve been believing. When we see God clearer, we find Him in places we never expected. In the passenger seat when you need someone to talk to. In the friend that texted you at the perfect time when you were struggling. In the door that was closed to protect you that led to an even better opportunity. In the dark night when you wake up and need someone. He’s way closer than you know.
